Re: From your garden/backyard

My favourite is the clear wing - the light/sharpening (?) isn't as harsh on this one. Plus it's a real treat to see it - we have nothing like that in our garden! A Green Veined White on 'Jack by the Hedge' (Alliaria petiolata) which is one of its food plants. We try to grow plants that are useful to...

Re: From your garden/backyard

Thanks for the kind comments on the 'spadgers'. I like the cat pictures - very nice exposures on the whites. Apart from the white on the face she is more or less identical to my second cat that I had for about 23 years. The first lasted around 18 years. Since my interest in wildlife I won't have ano...

Re: From your garden/backyard

Ditto to Birma ! And never forget - it's not just bees that pollinate. And all invertebrates are worth photographing and appreciating. Even 'ordinary' flies are little marvels of ingenuity!

Re: From your garden/backyard

Love the little frog! Nice image, too :)

From the garden this week. This little solitary bee cuts little semi circular pieces of leaf to use as cell linings for the larvae.

That's a beautiful image of a White Breasted Nuthatch, Valery! Lovely.

Re: Birds 2013

More great action shots here! I didn't know whether to put these on the new thread "From the Garden' as they are and they're nothing remarkably unusual. I do enjoy watching and photographing all the birds in the garden, whether common or unusual. These Woodpigeons have been particularly enterta...

Re: I gave in...........

Excellent shots. Exposure/clarity etc are faultless. #1 and #4 are the outstanding ones. If I were pushed on a constructive criticism I would say that the obvious sharpness and technical ability didn't demand such a close crop/framing. A bit of room around the plane and especially, space for it to '...

Re: Raod side on the way to Anchorage, Alaska.

Well, Sury - you don't half get about in the world! From India to Anchorage. I'm so jealous! I'd say the purple fringing could be the lens/whether it were clean/compatible and the fact the light situation wasn't right. If the light situation isn't right, and all of our knowledge of how to cou...

It is just a big, dead leaf hanging from a tree.
:) It looks a bit bigger than our leaves - some kind of palm? It's a very interesting image .

Re: From your garden/backyard

Glad to be of some sort of inspiration! Thankyou, Suri, for the mention. I think my favourites of yours are the yellow roses - you certainly have some very colourful blooms there. :) I do a lot of my photography in the garden - birds/flowers/frogs/invertebrates. As long as it isn't pouring with rain...

The humble daisy. I like them so much that I often mow the lawn around them, just as my much loved late Dad used to :)
