There is an adapter. It came with the A99V. Don't know if it ships with the A99II. They are $25.sury wrote:The flash system is not compatible with A900, right?

Re: Camera sales still dropping..
I bought 3 A-mount lenses this year and that is all I ever intend to buy. -- I've waited 15 years to have the cash for them, and figured retirement was the moment to give myself gifts. One was a Sigma. I don't intend to every buy another one. Some of lenses are from the 1980s when I had a Minolta 90...

Re: How wide is wide enough?
I think Sigma makes an ultra wide for crop sensor cameras. I have the 12-24 and its a great lens. For the 70-400 I have the Sony lens, but the similar lens from Sigma is probably great too -- and I say that because I had the Sony 24-70cz and if I set it to 24mm I can't tell if a picture was taken wi...

Re: Camera sales still dropping..
I don't think there was anything unfair about my Minolta 24-85 comments. The sony 24-70 is a great lens, but also over-rated. I do happen to have a "pristine new-old-stock copy" of the Minolta and In low light the sony is better, but in most situations it is not a better lens then the Mino...

Re: Camera sales still dropping..
the world economy still has not recovered from 2009. But I suspect one larger factor might be the fact that starting in 2012, 1.6 billion baby boomers began to retire and they are holding on to their money. Me, I will buy an A99II if there is one, and maybe a couple of primes, but they will be Sigma...

I've seen reports like this too, and wonder if there is a test standard that would give a definitive answer. if there was we could relay on the data.

Re: New Lens Coatings
Thank you. That information is something to think about.
I do wish the manufacturers would tell us why we should buy their gear, which in the case of Sony is close to double what others charge.

New Lens Coatings
I've seen people on other forums say the main difference between older Minolta lenses and newer Sony, Sigma lenses are the coating for digital cameras. Does anyone know of any studies that talk about about this, or have thoughts from experience?

Re: Are Sigma lens as warm as Minolta and Sony lens
Thanks Mr. Peterottaway. I don't know if I would never buy an MD lens, but from my X-700 days I have a 28mm, 50mm, 35-135mm, 135mm, 300mm and I think there is a 20mm, but have to look. It was what I needed until the Minolta 9000 came along in 1986 or 87. That is where most of my A-mount lens came fr...

Re: Are Sigma lens as warm as Minolta and Sony lens
Thanks guys. You gave me some things to think about. -- I've actually wondered if the color claims are true. Maybe I'll get an a-mount adapter and try my old MD lens see for myself.

Are Sigma lens as warm as Minolta and Sony lens
Many say that Minolta and Sony lens have a color warmth they don't see in lens from other manufacturers. I only have one Sigma lens so I don't have a feel for this. Does anyone have thoughts on how the sony 70-200 F/2.8 and Sony 70-400 lens compare to the Sigma equivalents? -- The cost difference is...

Re: Refurbished A99V
Thanks for the tripod tip. I ordered a new one. Because hand-held panning just doesn't work for me.
My existing tripod is a 35 year old Cullman with a center pipe that now slides down when a camera is on it. So it was time to retire it. -- And it use to work fine with a Minolta X700 and 9000.

Re: Refurbished A99V
RE: How is you camera working out? Any tips on holding the beast steady? So far the A99 is fine, but the documentation needs lots of work. I haven't noticed any issues with holding it steady. When set to Auto it pretty much picks a setting that is fast enough to eliminate any problem. There is a ste...

Re: Refurbished A99V
Just bought a refurbished a99 with grip for $1,299.00. Arrives by December 11, 2015. I will let you know how it goes. In the mean time, pray for me. Be sure to report in. -- I broke down last week and bought a new A99, mostly because I had the thought that I wanted a warranty with it. I assumed the...

Re: Widest FF wide angle - not fisheye
Thanks guys. I ordered the Sigma from Amazon. Ebay sellers want the same price, unless you are getting one out Japan and I'll need it in 3 weeks, to finish some technical manuals so I bought the price. -- No one is discounting these that I can find, unless they are used or grey market. Hopefully Son...
