David,
All the SAM lenses I've tried have been as noisy as the screwdriver-blade lenses. Are you saying these will be more suitable for AF during video shoots?

Re: Rebuttal of lukewarm A550 review...
Hi, David. Actually, I intentionally didn't name names when I talked about "lukewarm reviews" - yours I thought was on-target and outstanding (as always). I was just trying to drive the point home that Sony didn't have advanced users like you and me in mind when they designed that camera (...

Rebuttal of lukewarm A550 review...
Hi, all. I'm in the midst of writing a book on the A500/A550, and as part of my "research" I took off my "pro photographer" hat and used it as the only DSLR on my family vacation. And while my opinion of the camera started out to be pretty much in line with what Mr. Kilpatrick ha...

Hi, David!
Why did I instinctively know that you not only knew about the Zoerk, but you also had mountains of experience with other earlier competitors as well?

Welcome to the "Photographing People" Forum!
Hello, one and all! David has asked me to be the moderator of this forum, which I consider to be both an honor and a privilege. I suppose it's standard for an introductory post to outline the kinds of topics that are appropriate -- topics like lighting, lenses, technique, approaching people, getting...

Have you tried the
David,
Lensbaby is great, but have you tried the (slightly more serious) system from Zoerk?
http://www.zoerk.com/pages/p_mfs.htm
It's a bit pricey, but the lens is quite sharp!!

Self-timer screw for an XK/XM?
Hi, all.
My interchangeable-finder XK (I believe it's called the "XM" in Europe) is missing the small, flat, round screw which holds the self-timer lever in place.
Am looking for a replacement!! Can anyone help?
ADVthanksANCE !

I second that!
I actually live a few miles from Fountain Valley, and have used Terry's Camera Repair many times. He and his wife had moved to Orange County over 30 years ago, and he is perhaps the last of a dying breed of manual camera repair experts. Over the years he's CLA'd my SRT-102, XE-7, and added a new foo...
