My first SLR was a second hand Minolta SRT101 with Rokkor 50/1.4 bought about 37 years ago. I bought one of those in Gib(ralter) I bought mine in New York. IIRC there was a 'luxury' purchase tax here at that time and cameras were classified as luxury (!) goods so they cost about twice the US price....
