Re: Selling some old lens and getting replacements. please help
Another vote for the Sigma 70mm 2.8 EX DG macro. I did not get to shoot a lot of macro with it actually, rather ended using it mostly as a portrait lens :D which is the only reason why I returned it as I wasnt really putting it to good use. Aside from the sharpness (and maybe its a symptom of sharpn...

Re: What lens to buy next?
From my experience with the Tamron 17-50, it was very sharp and useful even at 2.8 especially at the wide end. I did not think much of it at the tele-end, but I see that you already have that covered with the 50 1.8. I sold the Tamron subsequently just to make funds for some other purchases, but not...

Re: Teleconverter noob question
Frank/Andy, Please feel free to correct me or point out bogus info. After doing some reading on dyxum it appears that the matched TCs for the 200 might have their element distances as close to the rear of the 200mm lens as possible, while the generic TCs seem to have a bit of room for any lens (any ...

Re: How about the 3D DSLR?
I actually would like to start capturing content in 3D in a better fashion. I do it now very shabbily with a tripod that has some sidewards play on the head. I compose 2 images next to each other on a 3rd canvas I cross my eyes to view - which is terrible :| so I don't do it often. The Fuji 3D cam i...

Re: Teleconverter noob question
Thanks again David. Harvey, point noted about the 1 or 2 stop loss on the TCs. Now I am debating between a "matched" TC for my 200 or a generic TC to share with my 100mm macro. Decisions, decisions.. I also read through a portion of the info on dyxums website. I did not notice it earlier f...

Re: Teleconverter noob question
Thanks again for your responses David and Frank. David, I have the white minolta 200mm HS APO. Out of curiosity, why do you consider the teleconv combo better than a zoom? Frank, this is very useful information. I am leaning towards a 2X at the moment, just so that I can get as far of a reach as I c...

Teleconverter noob question
Can I use a 1.4X or 2X teleconvertor with a minolta 200 HS lens? I have only read/heard about them in conjunction with zoom lenses. I usually dont shoot very long (beyond 200mm) but occasionally I see a bird or distant object that I would like to capture and the 200mm doesnt go too far then. What ar...

Re: Question - Parallax errors with non-(D)SLR cameras?
Thanks for the reply Dr. Harout. I was hoping it would be the case :) but I wanted to check with some of the experts. I guess I was confused as there are many EVIL references to Range Finder cameras, which did have parallax errors. My original foray into the SLR world was because of the lack of para...

Question - Parallax errors with non-(D)SLR cameras?
There has been a lot of talk about "mirror-less" cameras, "EVIL" cameras etc. I would like to know if these cameras have parallax errors. I have always assumed only SLR cameras do not have parallax errors (at least optically). Am I wrong? Thanks for any information. Regards, Gilroy

Help ! Purple spot/disc in image (Sigma 18mm 3.5)
I have a Sigma 18mm 3.5 that seems to create a purplish spot at the center of the image especially shooting against the sky or something. Is this normal for this lens? Will a polarizer help?
Thanks for any info.

Re: Image Quality
Thank you for that explanation. If I were to take the discussion further, can I then classify "noise" having two behaviors? One being a non-desirable (as seen in shadows of an high ISO image) and the other adding texture and details and therefore desirable? Sury Yes, you are correct about...
