Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

Please, please, please can Henry not answer, as this is going no where. Henry quoted from the Sony details. You have explained that the clear chassis is more then a "mock-up". We are all agreed. Let's all wait for the blessed thing to be released and enjoy it. :D Birma, rest assured, I am...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

Your original argument was that this couldn't be the finished A77 design and a production chassis because Sony had called it a concept model. Show me where I did that. Doc asked me to translate, but there was nothing much of interest to translate except the part about the model/mockup which came up...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

If Sony posted a picture of a banana on their website and called it a grapefruit would you believe it? Apart from the lack of visual acuity to discern a production camera from a model you seem to be unaware how marketing - or even language works. Your rage should be directed at Sony. Hope you don't...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

Is this meant as an answer to my question? You must be stupid if you think bolding the word 'mock-up' in anyway disproves my point that this is the actual design of the camera and contains a factory run chassis inside. What do you think's inside? Two a55s? It seems like you should contact Sony to e...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

http://www.dpreview.com/news/1102/11021105cpplusroundup.asp The Sony stand also plays host to a more revealing mockup of the forthcoming mid-level DSLR (something around the level of the A700, if you will). This farily finished looking mockup features a transparent plastic shell, showing all the ke...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

A lot of people are calling this a mock up - it isn't a mock up, it the actual camera, with a clear plastic body instead of a mixed materials one. Nothing is going to change. This is the camera. I just now took a quick look at the page and it says it is a コンセプトモデル(スケルトモック) -- concept model (skeleto...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

Manufacturers are only still making them out of metal to satisfy the hugely conservative hobbyist-photography market which still thinks it's using film cameras. That's a hugely superficial notion. Well, many hobbyist photographers are hugely superficial guys. The metal bodies are there to ensure st...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

I prefer not to have a top plate LCD. It's most commonly failed item in secondhand cameras and they have a limited life (though I have a calculator with an LCD - a Sharp Elsi Mate EL344 with metric conversions and solar power only - which has now been in use for over 30 years without problems. But ...

Re: A77, am I the first to notice?

I would not be surprised if the SSS switch has gone in to the menu system as per the A580. Perhaps for the mock up it is easier to show simple push buttons and the real camera may have actual switches etc. A lot of people are calling this a mock up - it isn't a mock up, it the actual camera, with a...

RAW not needed by videographers

So they made a Nex camcorder without ability to record raw stills, but its video is hopefully much better than with the Nex still cams. And the Nex still cams can do a rather basic video that can be good only under some very limited conditions. So for a full still&motion capture system one need...

Re: NEX video - MPEG4 probably the best choice

The 50/60i of the Nex is encoded from the 25/30p sensor output, as evidenced from the 1440x1080 25/30p mode. Any decent player, when paused, displays a full frame and not a single field of an interlaced frame nor a mix of two fields of adjacent frames. Okay, so PSF. I didn't realise this. The camer...

Re: Later NEX models I would like to see

First, drop the insults please, they really belong on dPreview ;-). David I didn't insult anyone. I defended myself. It would be nice if you defended your site members when you know they are right. I wrote a piece sticking up for you once on DPR. As for your comments on the E mount, I joined the do...

Re: Later NEX models I would like to see

Anyway, it is interesting that you automatically assumed that my "might be a case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing" comment was about you. Do you get accused of that a lot so you have a chip on your shoulder about it? Well who else could it be about. I am 'Rubberdials over at...

Re: NEX video - MPEG4 probably the best choice

NEX-5 - it is so hard to tell the difference between 1080 x 1920 (50i) and 1080 x 1440 (25p, interpolated to 1920) that some clips looked better using the MPEG4 encoding, some looked better using AVCHD. The colour and contrast seemed superior with AVCHD, but the sharpness and detail were if anythin...

Re: Later NEX models I would like to see

Your sarcastic comment is borderline asinine since it is completely obvious why the NIkon, Canon and Sony FF cameras have the same size mounts as those for smaller sensors - to serve an existing user base with a very large pool of existing lenses. It is a fait accompli and there was no sensible eco...
