KM Scanner 5400 II & Vista
Anyone tried using this legendary scanner on Vista with the KM software?
If it won't work normally, does it work using XP compatibility mode?

A900 lottery, will you take a chance?
Having been reading various Minolta/KM/Alpha forums over the years two things have become apparent: 1) KMS Digital SLRs are surprisingly unreliable. Many reports of Front focus, back focus, sensor mis-alignments/slanting horizons, anti-shake problems, first frame black etc. 2) If your DSLR develops ...

Thanks for your input David. To further clarify my experience: 1) If both lenses are at the infinity focus position and I try to focus on something 2 metres away using both lenses and neither lens fails to lock focus during its first attempt at locking focus then the 3.5-4.5 lens focuses significant...

Perhaps 'hunting' is an incorrect technical term for what I experience with my SSM. With the SSM if I focus on something using the central focus sensor, the lens sometimes fails to lock focus (more frequently than the 3.5-4.5 lens) and travels to the end of the distance scale and returns again for a...

Sony please don't introduce any more SSM lenses
My experience with my 70-200 f2.8 SSM on my film 7 is that it focuses significantly more slowly and hunts more than my 70-210 f3.5-4.5. It is a useless lens if you need to focus in a hurry. It's not just Minolta lenses. I have tried Canon USMs on their bodies and they focus noticeably more slowly th...

CF card reliability vs camera damage
People say that you should use multiple smaller capacity cards rather than a single huge capacity card in case you have a card failure. However, I cannot remember reading any posts reporting card failure but have read many posts of people damaging (bending) the contact pins on their cameras during t...

Re: more from Zeiss
Yeah right. Great design. Will the hood fit then?Adapters to a larger filter size are recommended when using a polarizing filter.

The film 7 DOF display does not indicate what the camera has decided the focus distance should be. It just tells you what the distance in front of and behind the focus distance that will be reasonably sharp given your selected focal length and aperture. Of course it would be better if it also told y...

I miss depth of field indicator on 7D
Does anybody know why KM neglected in the 7D (also 5D and A100?) to keep the wonderful graphic DOF indicator as on the back panel of the film 7? It's not easy to check the DOF on a picture on the LCD panel nor is it always easy to see what you are doing through the lens whilst it is stopped down. It...

What about a lens section?
At last a one-stop organised forum for Minolta/KM/Sony users for both film and digital. Well done. But no lens section? There are many lenses suitable for both digital and film so not sure whether they would go into the digital or film SLR section. Perhaps it would be more easy to include an extra s...
