Re: Grass and dogs

I like them both, and has been said already they are different types of shot.

I prefer the one of Heidi and the catchlight in her eye really sets it off, so great shot for me.

Re: Hello From Cornwall UK

Hi Robert, big welcome from bonneville. Up until 4 years ago I lived in the SW, although not so far down, in Somerset. However work relocation brought me to Rutland. We all look forward to some images from the Cornish fishing villages and maybe from the moors. Don't be shy in asking for comments and...

Re: What lenses do you use?

Well, the forum comes onto my screen with grey text on a black background ever since the appearance was changed. And I find that difficult to read with such low contrast. Sorry you felt that I wasn't worth the effort. I thought that with Sonolta gone so were snide and rude comments. Thanks awfully....

Re: Late afternoon in the gargen

Very nice colours and good diagonal composition John.

Top left area is a bit distracting compared with the rest of the background which you may have been able to get around by changing position slightly.

Re: Numbering of Image Files

FWIW (I think you now know this one John  ) I only ever use the DuoPro as an emergency backup if I fill the CF and don't have another spare CF available, so the numbering issue is rarely an issue for me. As soon as I get on the PC I shove the CF card into the reader, copy the files into a new f...

Re: Advice for Holiday lens

It's all down the diameter and position of the element in the 1.4X - the 2X looks a bit bigger, and maybe as if it sticks forwards slightly more. It stands about 1mm proud of the flange face - does the 1.4X, or is it slightly recessed behind the flange surface? David On my Sigma TC x1.4 (which is n...

Photoclubalpha forums friends:

Please ignore the quality of the above pictures of lenses. Moral: never take pictures after the lion's share of a bottle of Shiraz, it plays havoc with the skill adjustments

Re: Tripod??

I bought a cheap tripod as I wasn't sure if I would find it useful. I then found it very difficult (and frustrating) to use the cheap version, not tall enough, not flexible (in terms of configurations), not steady enough (very important!), not strong enough for telephoto lenses, etc. I then had to ...

Re: Advice for Holiday lens

OK, this is more than interesting. The 2X TC, like the Sony models, can not be used with lenses other than a limited range of long apos. From what you say, the 1.4X Sigma TC does not have the same interfering element which prevents mounting on other lenses. David David I had never considered trying...

Re: I shot the shooters

This is not hunting H, this is target shooting at circular plastic "clay pigeons or clays". I know, Brian. You had already mentioned in the first line. I'm just saying that those guns are associated with hunting. Sorry H Still, it can't be any fun if you happen to be a clay pigeon,...

Hi slufdriver

FWIW I'm afraid your text colour is unreadable in the 610nm Style skin (without highlighting it).

Interesting list all the same

Re: Advice for Holiday lens

Hi John Not a pro, far from it but FWIW I had a long haul to Jamaica earlier this year and took the following: a700 Sony 18-250 Sony 70-300 G SSM (actually my wife carried that  ) Sigma 70 2.8 macro & Sigma 1.4 TC (APO EX DG) The big G, although a brilliant lens was not suitable for that tr...
