My Partner very kindly bought me some plate glass negatives from a charity shop. They look well composed and might be historic, looks like they were taken by a wealthy person of their lovely home somewhere in Norfolk. There are also glass negatives of the broads and old boats. Thanks as usual for all the advice. I read elsewhere that some sony digital camera will play the old analog tapes. I might go in that direction.

This is a question somewhat off topic in that it involves moving pictures! I have a bunch of hi-8 tapes that I want to convert to DVD, I would ideally like to do the conversion and be able to edit the films myself, they are family videos and hence have a lot of editing to be done on them. I rarely do technical checks on lenses but the discussions here led me to check out the 50 1.7 against the zeiss 16-80. Does anyone know a cheap but reputable source for battery rechargers for the np fm500h (alpha 700 ) battery. Mine is dead, luckily I have three batteries to get me through the weekend but after that......
