Hey David,
Thanks for the response. My color problems are with my 56... but in version 3 firmware AWB when using flash was very reliable.

HVL-F58AM AWB and the A700
I have a question. Since upgrading to Version 4 firmware on my A700 my AWB when using flash has been rendered useless. This makes editing the images from an event a nightmare because you can't stick a grey card in every shot. I have a problem report opened to Sony that has been sent to Japan for fix...

Re: A700 V4 available (officially!)
I was never able to locate the front dial thread but I do recall reading within it a few months ago. Not only do I have problems with my shutter speed but also with viewing pictures. My camera will start cycling through the pictures very fast when I use the front dial to look through them. Even when...

Major AWB/FLASH problems since V4
Today I experienced the same white balance issue while using flash. When I got home I did a controlled experience to see if I could prove it. My daughter was reading her book and I decided this would be a good test. It was night time. The only light on her was from the ceiling fan (tungsten). I set ...

Re: HVL-F56AM Battery Usuage Gripes
Yes, the lower two usually are almost at full capacity and the upper two are completely drained. I've used all different kinds. Duracell, Energizer reg, Energizer Lithium, Nuon Rechargable plus others. I usually test out my batteries in a point and shoot to see how much life is in them and these are...

User Error
Okay, I'm embarassed to say this but my really bad initial experiences were due to my own user error. I had my EV Comp set at -1.5 stops because I was using flash at another shoot and wanted to shoot that much above ambient. Well naturally, like any other person I forgot to reset my EV and thus ever...

Sigma 10-20 Questions
I just bought me a Sigma 10-20 and have a few questions. I've noticed that there is light fall off on the edges. Is this normal? How does one capture a picture and have everything look evenly lit?

HVL-F56AM Battery Usuage Gripes
When my flash proclaims that it's batteries have run out of juice why are two dead as a rock and the other two are almost fully charged? Seems like the unit only uses the juice from the top two and just likes to have the 2nd two just because it can. I've been dealing with this ever since I purchased...

Re: Need a TTL Cord and Flash Bracket for HVL-F56AM
Thanks to a poster over at dpreview they shared with me The Promaster off camera ttl cord. I used it this Saturday for a wedding and it worked very well with my flash.

A700 - ISO 6400, F2.8, 1/30th
I shot a convention and in order to get proper exposure WITHOUT FLASH I had to go all the way to ISO 6400, F2.8 on my CZ 24-70 lens and 1/30th of a second. Thank God for Noise Ninja! Even if I shot with flash and wanted to preserve the ambient light I would have been close to ISO 3200. I'm really ho...

Need a TTL Cord and Flash Bracket for HVL-F56AM
Where can I find a bracket and cord that will work (without modification) with my A700/Vertical grip and flash?

Hey Gary,
Why did you underexpose by 2/3rd's stop? Was that to prevent the left side of the face from blowing out or for some other reason?
Sincerely,
Ivan

Re: Fine Tweaking The HVL-F56AM in Manual Mode
I'm sitting here laughing because your response is so concise, simple and affective. I use ND sheets on my strobes all the time for this very reason.. it never dawned on me to use one along with my built in wide angle diffuser... duhhhhh (on my part lol). Thanks Dave... I appreciate your reply.

Fine Tweaking The HVL-F56AM in Manual Mode
I've been experiencing frustration with my 56. I use it in manual mode almost 100% of the time because TTL only results in giving me headaches with Sony A100 and A700. When I'm at the higher ISO 3200 (A-700) sometimes the power setting of 1/32 just isn't low enough. Here is the situation.. the room ...
