Re: Humming Birds with Minolta 80-200 f2.8

Yes the AF speed I know some cameras don't have it, when I tried it though big difference in speed when set to fast, not that slow was slow just very notable difference. Can't say I've seen much difference with other lenses (maybe it's the way it's geared on this lens)

Re: Humming Birds with Minolta 80-200 f2.8

Came out pretty good, nice lens too
I don't know if you noticed but I found the slow/fast setting to make quite a difference on the 80-200mm, never seemed that different on other lenses

Dynax 5d - Making it into a 24mp camera!

I thought I would try out that Topaz Gigapixel software just for fun
5d is shot with the Tamron 17-50mm in raw and developed (I pushed it about a bit to match the DR of newer sensors, I just about got there pulling into the shadows)

Re: I am trying out the A6300

Another quick update Using the A6300 further and comparing the IQ to the A77ii, I can't see any obvious difference in terms of DR, there is some improvement in low light as expected as there is no light sucking SLT mirror. What I do notice is the AWB in daylight is consistently "cooler" on...

Re: Olympus is out...

I think reality v expectations comes to mind. What they do we shall see. Apart from re-hiring some ambassadors like Robin Wong (who's over excitement/spluttering/sweating/gushing) about Micro 4/3 actually puts me off ever even looking at any of their products ;-D, let's see what they can do. My gues...

Re: Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Onto the case the one you are after is the JJC DLP-5II The sizes up from this are much larger (width/length) and as the 80-200mm is fairly compact this one is better suited Amazon link in case you need it: https://amzn.to/3mpKLAe Front/rear caps and filter with hood fits perfectly (you can adjust th...

Re: Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Some shots of the hood it's pretty big, but it's a good fit and if you bust it/lose it hardly worth worrying. The plastic is super flexible it's pretty unlikely you will crack it, another good point Some shots showing it. It does not contact the collar/base plate when reversed, and covers a good por...

Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Thought this might be of use I got the original hood with the lens, but yearned for something a bit less damageable and something that is deeper - and pretty much disposable ie provides protection The one you are after is the HB-7II, I got one on eBay for under €4 delivered! This is for the Nikon 80...

Re: Old camera appreciation!

Another one from the Dynax 5D, this time 30mm F2.8 SAM Macro
30mm and 100mm is a big difference in perspective due to distance, I think the two work quite well in their own way

Strange with all the more recent cameras lying around I find myself using the 5d more and more these days!

Pentax K3III has landed with "ouch" price tag!

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-k-3-mark-iii-officially-available-for-pre-order-35355 £1900, $2000/€2000 I did expect it to be not that cheap, but it's surprised me how much more it is. I thought it might hit £1500 odd, scary how prices have gone BTW you don't get a charger or hot shoe cov...
