Re: Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Onto the case the one you are after is the JJC DLP-5II The sizes up from this are much larger (width/length) and as the 80-200mm is fairly compact this one is better suited Amazon link in case you need it: https://amzn.to/3mpKLAe Front/rear caps and filter with hood fits perfectly (you can adjust th...

Re: Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Some shots of the hood it's pretty big, but it's a good fit and if you bust it/lose it hardly worth worrying. The plastic is super flexible it's pretty unlikely you will crack it, another good point Some shots showing it. It does not contact the collar/base plate when reversed, and covers a good por...

Case/Hood solutions for the Minolta 80-200mm HS APO G

Thought this might be of use I got the original hood with the lens, but yearned for something a bit less damageable and something that is deeper - and pretty much disposable ie provides protection The one you are after is the HB-7II, I got one on eBay for under €4 delivered! This is for the Nikon 80...

Re: Old camera appreciation!

Another one from the Dynax 5D, this time 30mm F2.8 SAM Macro
30mm and 100mm is a big difference in perspective due to distance, I think the two work quite well in their own way

Old camera appreciation!

Strange with all the more recent cameras lying around I find myself using the 5d more and more these days!
Feel free to add your own (perhaps CCD cameras?)

Pentax K3III has landed with "ouch" price tag!

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-k-3-mark-iii-officially-available-for-pre-order-35355 £1900, $2000/€2000 I did expect it to be not that cheap, but it's surprised me how much more it is. I thought it might hit £1500 odd, scary how prices have gone BTW you don't get a charger or hot shoe cov...

Re: Back to the Fold

Who knows some say the A7 range is based on the older 7000 series body wise (ie boxy)
I've yet to meet anyone who prefers using the 7000 over the later 7 though ;-D

A7III Class Action Lawsuit Broken Shutter

https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/news/camera-breaking-sony-a7-iii-shutters-result-in-class-action-lawsuit-against-sony Interesting I did notice a while back the growing number posting on the shutter failure A7III facebook group. It did look to be a bit more common than you might expect. See how th...

Re: Second attempt at an 80-200mm HS APO G

You should pick up some more lenses, prices are still quite good and probably might go down over time Camera body prices are terrible right now (on any make), probably that shortage of parts etc. There are too many gems with Minolta at silly prices to not get them! I use the 100-200mm all the time, ...

Re: Back to the Fold

I can see both sides to a point. I wouldn't say I drove myself crazy with it, I did consider options. Let me put it like this someone I know had a pretty hefty investment in A mount, A99ii's, lot of G lenses and many if not most of the Zeiss stuff (primes and zooms). They did have what I call normal...

Re: Second attempt at an 80-200mm HS APO G

I did test the last one albeit with some difficulty due to the jamming up focus. This seems the same ie optically excellent. It is not a perfect lens (there is some CA but not much). What it does is something very few lenses can, and that is hold it's resolution across the frame at 200mm (and most o...

Re: Back to the Fold

Panasonic seem to be doing better than most in the industry, Olympus have become a lame duck, Yes, Panasonic seem to be the system to go to for movie work, but their stills quality is also superb. Their menus are easy to navigate and touch screen is very good, unlike Olympus who's menus are hidden ...
