Re: Challenge #52: birds in flight! Ends April 30th

Hi all,

I haven't contributed to one of these for a while, and I don't really do birds in flight, so here is the only one that I can think of that is half decent...

Re: Sony NP-FM500H 50% charge with third party batteries

Evidently something has changed with the new charger so SLT folks might be able to chip in here! Not much to add really... My A100 charger will charge anything that I have tried. My A77 charger will only charge genuine Sony batteries. They look almost identical, but the model numbers differ. The ol...

Re: Cold weather AF problems?

I use this combination (A77/16-50) and have not noticed a problem, although have not done that much outdoors since it turned colder.

Could it be a battery issue?

Re: Dynax 600si Classic - Back to the future

OK, brain picking time: Does anyone know how to get the shutter on a 600si to fire with no lens fitted? I want to use my Helios 44-2 58mm with A mount adapter, but it just won't fire. :( According to here it is press and hold the LENS RELEASE button and FILM SPEED button with the lens removed and m...

Re: Nessie sighting?

I liked the bit where it says "After watching the object for five to ten minutes, Mr Edwards said it slowly sank below the surface and never resurfaced." Five to ten minutes? In mid summer? And only 1 photo, and no other witnesses? I reckon someone needs a boost to his boat trip business p...

Re: Dynax 600si Classic - Back to the future

I am a little jealous, as I have fancied one of these since they were introduced, but am not willing to spend too much on one as I will not use it much. I might have stretched to £15.49. :D

Re: 200mm lens

Is not the sony 55-200 kit lens a pretty good buy? I have it and a beercan and have been pleased with the Sony's IQ. Plus it's much smaller and lighter. Play your cards right and you can get it with a new body for an additional $100, or at least I did last year. The 55-200 is a DT lens and therefor...

Re: Need help to convert RAW into DNG

Tom, 5.7 was the latest that works with CS4 according to the Adobe website. Is it still possible to download the latest converter and make it work? As Dusty says, 5.7 is the latest version of ACR that you can use with CS4, but the DNG converter is completely independent of Photoshop and ACR and is ...

Re: Need help to convert RAW into DNG

CS4 DNG converter ( plug in 5.7) does not convert ARW files into DNG from A35. It does convert JPGs though. What could be wrong? You probably need a newer DNG converter as CS4 is older than the A35 so the DNG convertor may not recognise the files. Download the latest DNG converter from Adobe, (they...

Re: Challenge #46: "Spring! Fresh Anew.."- ends April 30

Thanks Yildiz/Frank - much appreciated. It is actually easier than you think if you have a hive in the garden. :-) You can sit near the entrance and watch them come and go for hours. It just takes a lot of patience, a large card in the camera, and a lot (and I mean a lot) of wasted shots.

Having made the very same step (from A100 to A77) I can only say that there are massive improvements across the board.
As Lonnie says, the answer to your questions are quite simply yes, yes, and yes.
