Re: A77 in the studio

Found this on page 58 of the A65 manual:

Live View
Display Sets whether or not to display the effect of a function on the
screen, such as the effect of the exposure compensation
value.
(Setting Effect ON/Setting Effect OFF)

Looks like the A65 can be used in the studio.

Re: A77 in the studio

How about the A65? Does anyone know if it performs that same as the A77 in the studio?

Sigma 18-250 compared to the CZ 16-80?

I have the CZ 16-80 that I use probably 80% of the time. I really like this lens. I also have a Tamron 18-250 that I sometimes use when I need to travel fairly light. But the focusing is slower than I like and the performance at the long end is ok but not great. I've read Dave's article on the Sigma...

Re: tamron 18-250 & MF

I've recently gone with the Tamron; does fine work indeed (see http://www.picasaweb.google.com/alphaPDX/MegaTamron for sampler). Sharp when I want it to be, smooth when I don't, nice color and decently light. I have noticed (with a bit of dismay) that when focusing manually the drive screw seems to...

Re: what do people use instead of the kit lens on a crop camera?

Another point to consider is dynamic range. I've seen some decent pics from someone I know who has an Olympus E410 with the 14-42 kit lens. I noticed that while the pics were generally good, I think it had less dynamic range when compared to the Sony A200.

Re: what do people use instead of the kit lens on a crop camera?

As you know, the A100 shutter/mirror slap is quite loud. The A200 shutter sound is much more quieter than the A100 (I know, right now I have both). You'll want to hear the Olympus E420 and Sony A200 side by side.

Re: what do people use instead of the kit lens on a crop camera?

Someone I know in the UK wants a better camera than their current point and shoot. I was thinking of recommending the a200, however the sony 18-70mmn kit lens isn't good enough for using all of the time, although the focal range is ideal for someone who will be using 1 lens 95% of the time and who ...

Re: Minolta 28-105mm RS on A900

I use an A200 and I recently got a 28-105mm RS to replace a 24-85mm RS and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of images. Nice to know that it'll work fine on the A900 if I ever get one.
