Re: Zeiss 24mm f/2 review now posted

Thanks for the review. I agree it's a great lens. I'd say it only have two flaws: - Size, almost as large as the 24/1.4 from Nikon & Canon, much larger than the Minolta 28/2. - SSM battery drainage. I can take about 33% less photos with it than the Minolta 28/2 with the same battery. Here are so...

The two lenses are at least closely related.

Re: This is the kind of product I like : SLT adaptor for E m

The only advantage of this (over existing adapters) would be to have phase detect AF. I'd like another direction like Fuji where the phase detect AF sensor is "hidden" inside the main sensor. This way, no light is loss from the SLT mirror. It would be more fun if they could use the space i...

I can't but see some Zeiss DNA it the SAL 85/2.8. Thanks for sharing.

Sony should do it for all the SAL lenses. But will they?

Re: NEX and Vectis lenses

This lens has some really good qualities, considering it is not even mounted correctly and is definitely not correctly set up for register, which alters the way the zoom/focus correction functions. David I recall that the 50 Macro had good reputation. Now someone should reverse engineer the pin lay...

Totally agree. I took some shots at 6400 recently, thinking of processing them in B&W to get away with the "red blotchs". But found out that the results in LR3 were perfectly usable. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4773927869_1af16a9f76_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/477...

Sounds like you probably didn't read through this thread. :) Yes, I read a bit quickly... Sorry... But I still keep what I said... We need both small & large cameras... Here is a pic that I took with my A900 & Zeiss 135/1.8, hand held @ISO6400. Probably impossible with a small camera. http:...

A Vectis adapter would be fun. Does anyone know the difference between the V-mount and the E-mount?

Re: Who needs FF now?

I'd say it's like asking who needs large screwdrivers when smaller ones are cheaper :)

Did you ever ask yourself why there are so many brands of cars and models?
Or why people keep buying different clothes?

Cameras are just tools. Different people need different stuff. Just let it be...

Try the Tamron 24-135/3.5-5.6. Very decent when stopped down to 5.6-8 and nice colors.

Re: Old Lenses worth seeking out

I agree for the Minolta 24-85, quite good when stepped down.
Another option is the Tamron 24-135, difficult to find but very versatile and provide pleasing pictures.

Re: NEX -- Why only 2 e-mount lenses?

The Vectis was not exactly a runaway success so it probably is not worth the effort. Also such an adapter would only compound the problem for Sony of most of us buying second hand Minolta lenses. Sony is not flooding the market with Sony lenses either... I think most of us buy Minolta lenses (somet...
