Re: Sigma 70-200mm HSM review up

I just bought this lens for my dad, and for his a700. I'm currently using the old Minolta 80-200HS, and I was just very curious to see the match of these two lens. Sigma lens feels very decent, and the HSM is very quiet on my a900. Overall it is a very decent lens. The only problem I found comparing...

Re: Dxomark has A700 v4 up now

I agree with Don here. I think DXO gives you a very good idea on what each camera can do, even though the difference between two cameras can be very little. I think its the reviewer to add other fact in, such as price/quality ratio, etc. But overall it gives a very clear and fair data.

Re: Sony BJP overview

What's wrong to be a "fanboy"? No offense, but I think this word is overly used and almost abused by Sonolta. If fanboy refers as a very negative term, then i believe most people are just loyal to Minolta/Sony system. I think most photographers are loyal to the brand they've chosen. This i...

Re: How Bad Is Sony Quality Control ?

The thing I hate is that it is TOO EASY to spin the wheel! When I move quickly with the camera on a neck strap my settings get changed! Totally agree... it is annoying and this happens on a900 too. I had to lock it because I'm so tired of constantly checking the settings. :) On the other hand, my e...

Re: How Bad Is Sony Quality Control ?

My brand new CZ 24-70mm out of box made high pitch noise whenever you try to focus, feels like internal parts need lubrication. It was annoying but got exchanged at the local Sony store w/o any problem.

Re: Nikon D3X DXOMark Numbers Blow the Sony A900 Away!

Don, after reading all of these posts and others, I feel like you are the fanboy of anti-sony-fanboys. If anyone who praises Sony or says something like Sony is better than Nikon or not far behind Nikon, I will see your following post bash them. In fact, you claim others that bashes this and that, b...

Re: Sony vs. Canon

I think your focus about digital photography is solely on sensor technology. Although it is an extremely important part of digital photography, don't forget what are made of photography, camera, lens, etc. Over the last few years, I have not seen Canon brought any exciting features to the camera, an...

Re: Will All Future Alpha and CZ Stuff be Made in China?

it's interesting to read some of these posts regarding to "made in China"... I guess right now China does not carry a good reputation due to various reason, but guys, will you fly Airbus or Boeing at all if you know the facts that China actually manufacture the wings or tail wings for thos...

Re: A Question about filter

Hi Frank, thanks for the information. I think the keywords here are GOOD FILTER. All of my filters are Hoya Super HMC and they were not cheap. Now with getting CZ lens, the SONY UV filter is even more expensive. But I guess it's a good investment since the lens is so costly.

Re: Sensor cleaning warnings

I found my a700 got the dust very easily. It went to the point I got really frustrated because I had to clean it almost every single time, there is always one spot that seems attract the big dust. To clean the dust, I use the sensor brush and it works extremely well. For a900 I just bought, so far I...

Re: A900 and Tilt & Shift

I only wish a900 extended bracket shoot to 7 or even 9 frames since i do shoot a lot of HDR. Five frames generally is good enough but often time it's limited. I care more about this than a900 high iso performance ;)

Re: A Question about filter

Hi G, I know i know... :) but seriously, I did my quick test... was originally to see if the Sony T* coating filter is better than Hoya Ultra thin filter (both them cost over $100 each), and I didn't see the difference. I basically shot three sets of photos, with Sony filter, with Hoya filter and wi...

Re: A Question about filter

Who said my or other's filter is ¢10? :P I think there is a difference between good and bad filter :)... perhaps someone can do some test to prove the theories :) Actually I did a quick test on 17-35mmG on 17mm end, with and w/o filter. My finding was no difference.

Re: A Question about filter

Hi Dr. Harout, you are not the only one not to use the UV filter. I once met a photographer who works for Nikon on the flight to LA. He showed me about D1 when the DSLR was still rare at the time. He basically told me the same story as yours. But for me, I think UV filter is important just for the p...

Re: Civility

I have to say I have learned a lot from Don. Honestly at the first, I was a little bit annoyed by his "massive" posts and lots of photos, because it seems the topic could get lost focus a little bit, I even set up to ignore his posts for like 5 minutes. Then I was very curious why David wo...
