Re: Minolta 80-200 2.8 HS
If you have a good deal on this lens buy it. I think optically it is just as good as the Minolta or Sony 70-200. Today I still use this lens with slide film. The front lens does spin as you focus, so using a polarizer filter will require you to keep a finger on it as it focuses. With some of the old...

Re: Sony USA Lens price hike
I'm guessing this is where Americans are going to use the 13 dollars a week Income Tax Cut under the Obama Administration.

...and Alien Bees Ring flash with excellent results. As ring flash/light interest me a lot, I thank you for providing the name. I didn't know about Alien Bees. Though I already read and downloaded manuals, but still I have some questions. 1- Is it really usable handheld? As I see it weighs 1kg (app...

Re: ringflash
Sony named the Ring Light correct. It's a ring light and not a Ring Flash as Minolta built a Mini Ring Flash. I have yet to figure out why Sony did this? I think the Sony does a good job with still subjects at very close distances. Today I am using the Minolta 200 f/4 macro with the Minolta Twin Fla...

Re: Bring Back the Classics
The last version of the Minolta 35 G lens. Just my opinion compared to the newer Sony 35.
I am a pretty big fan of the 200 f/4 macro and 3x-1x f/1.7~2.8 macro. Both were fairly expensive in the day of Minolta. I seriously doubt they will ever be reproduced. Never hopes to want!

Re: New Sony lenses
Gimme an 400 or 500 and the 600mm w/SSM and an update to the A900 software for decent iso/asa noise to 1000 like the A700 and I will be very pleased with Sony. As I know it will eventually come, instant gratification is always nice!

Re: New Sony lenses
I'm glad to see Sony produce new telephoto lenses. I can't imagine it without the SSM. It looks the size of the 400 f/4.5 but would love to see it at f/4. It's not as large as the 600mm for sure.

Re: Maxxum/Dynax 9 Spotted in Israel for 260$.
I have 3 versions of this Minolta and I think the 9 is a fantastic camera and I still use then for 35mm Fujicrome Velvia 50/40. Shutter's seems to drift about one third beyond 200k cycles. Prolly cause its extreme shutter speed at 1/12K. In my personal experience with film cameras, its one of the be...

Re: Looking to buy a scanner
Kodacrome is one of the best if not the best preserved transparencies ever made. I have the Coolscan from Nikon for Med. and 35mm film. It does a very good job once you overcome the learning curb dealing with Kodacrome. Although I am not a fan of Nikon, today they make a very good scanner. Beyond Ni...

Re: not so ugly duckling
Such a beautiful water fowl. Mighty fine vittles if I may add. It is said that no two ducks have the same call. However, the domesticated white duck and the Mallard have the same call.
