Re: Doc hits the big 50

I wasn't on yesterday so I missed it, but Happy Birthday from me as well, Doc! I think at 50 you should get a FF camera for your birthday! Dusty Happy birthday Doc - I always thought you were older and wiser than me, but it turns out you are younger and wiser  Yes, treat yourself to a used Son...

Photoworld meeting 2012

Had a very pleasant day at the the Edinburgh PhotoWorld meeting today. David Kilpatrick was in attendance demonstrating the latest Sony gear. I took a few snaps with my Rich GXR plus Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f2 lens http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7052/6847727836_5d7a7cfb68_b.jpg The crowd after David's ...

David Kilpatrick wrote:I know that Richard would use it, he currently uses a Leica M9 and is testing the Ricoh GXR with Leica M module, and seems OK with the EVF on that.
Hi David, I have also got the GXR with M module and like it so much that I sold my M8.

Will be watching what the NEX-7 is like though. :D

Re: Leica 9 - 18 megapixel full frame

Hi Frank, Interesting video. I got a used M8 and love it. There are of course times and occasions where a DSLR is much more suitable. Horses for courses. Would have an M9 in instant if I could justify the cost. Maybe when the M10 comes out I may be able to pick up a used M9 at a more realistic price.

Re: My new Mac App - PhotoHound

Great job David, unfortunately not available for Windows. Not yet, though my AlamySizeCheck does something similar (though not as much). It is Mac, Windows and Linux and is donationware, so you can play with it for free. PhotoHound is an exercise to see how well the Mac App Store works. In someways...

Re: Wide and Fish adaptors

Reference braeside's account of the Photoworld day in Edinburgh last Sunday, I also enjoyed the gathering and much admired Duncan McEwan's pictures from New Delhi. Getting a sharp image of fast moving action under difficult circumstances is a feat. Kenneth Martin is a class act and I never cease to...

Re: Wide and Fish adaptors

Had a good meeting today in Edinburgh (Photoworld Day). David Kilpatrick did a good job extolling the virtues of the diminutive NEX-5, though I'm still not sure it would suit me. I have recently got a used Leica rangefinder for work where I cannot carry a lot of heavy gear and lenses on holiday. I'm...

Re: 85/2.8 35/1.8 24/2 MTF curves on sony Japan

I have just got the Sony 2.8/85mm SAM lens ( £198 at Jessops) ................ I no longer have a desire for a Zeiss 85/1.4, this lens will meet my needs. +2 stops and A Zeiss, to boot! I'd still WANT it, but that winning lottery ticket keeps eluding me! Dusty I guess Dusty, but I have the CZ...

Re: 85/2.8 35/1.8 24/2 MTF curves on sony Japan

I've never got hold of the 85mm lens, so far. But I'm pretty sure the converter will not work, my 2X does not work with the SAM 30mm f/2.8, shows the usual hunting action associated with SSM lenses used on converters. David I have just got the Sony 2.8/85mm SAM lens ( £198 at Jessops) and can confi...
