Re: Sony SLT-A77 DPR review

The various tests that you posted on DPR were very interesting - Thank You. I am interested in going the other way - and do/see some low(er) 100-200 ISO available light candid portrait and flora comparisons, between the a900 and a77 using the 85CZ and 2470CZ........that is, when I can find some spar...

Re: A noisy world on the A77

Those samples were obviously focused slightly differently. And given the much higher noise, the NR also fails to smooth the a77 image to the Nex7 levels. The detail was tuned for the Nex, the 77 just received the same settings pasted. Sharpening at 3.0 radius is actually a microcontrast adjustment ...

Re: A noisy world on the A77

OK, the a77 sample with the same exact processing and the NR/sharpening used. Wow, that was quick - thank you! I normally don't do a lot of peeping at this level but...... The NEX-7 = an over all better result, as one would expect. I'd add; noticeably less blotchy and less chroma noise. It would be...

Re: A noisy world on the A77

Just for the kicks  A half-res crop from some DPR Nex7 sample found in their a77 review. The full image screen dimensions would correspond to an about A2 size. Easily printable to A3. And that's ISO12800... No sophisticated processing, just Lr3.5 with pretty standard settings I use for higher...

Re: A77 -- no ghosting!

Welcome Magnar Good news about the (no) ghosting....... All of a sudden, things are looking up around here! Fantastic examples/work, and for some reason your images seem to look much better here than on DPR? Your recent stunning aurora images would look great here too! Have you had much chance...

Re: My favourite vacation-lazy lens

Yes, I assumed incorrectly that it was only APS-C i.e. the same as the 8mm.....I shouldn't post when it is past my bedtime

Thanks for picking me up on this...

Re: My favourite vacation-lazy lens

Two more views and an all-important sun in the frame corner. Hi Agorabasta, Very good examples of what can be achieved with this lens! I like the same maker's 8mm version too, and especially what camperbc (Glen of Fogo Island) on DPR can get out of that lens - He has become sort of an 8mm crusader ...

Re: My favourite vacation-lazy lens

these are great pictures - so impressed I've just ordered the 14mm for my a900. Hope it arrives okay, should have asked this forum where to order in the uk. found a site called digitaltoyshop, after a long google search - looks like the lens will dispatch from Spain. fingers crossed  Hi Adam ...

Re: Sony Lens Test program for Photoclubalpha

The 16-80mm was originally tested on 10 megapixels - Alpha 100. Of course we've come miles since then. From what I have been able to tell on 12, 14 then 16 megapixels it just gets better (which is not the case for all lenses) and on Thursday, I was able to compare it with the 16-50mm f/2.8 and see ...

Re: Sony Lens Test program for Photoclubalpha

........To help decide which lenses should follow, I've set up a poll with ten initial possibilities. We have already covered, and could revise to suit a new format if necessary: .......CZ 16-80mm DT ZA ( it's getting rather old but it's a good lens ).... Well that's one down  Picked my 3 - th...

Re: minolta 300MM 2,8 HS versus SONY 300MM 2,8 SSM

Gustav, I had similar thoughts and questions to yours, and ended up buying the Minolta 300/2.8 HS APO, rather than the Sony HSM version. The price differential was a major consideration for me as the Sony RSP is $13,499AU here in Australia, and I (only!) paid ~$3,000AU for the Minolta lens in excell...

Re: What lens to buy next?

Chris It appears that you have already put a lot of thought into upgrading your system and I think that you are spot-on with what you have in mind. The Tamron 17-50 to replace your 18-70 The 70-200 2.8 to replace your 75-300 Both of these upgrades will give you significantly better IQ and shooting f...

Re: Anticipated prices on new Sony 500 f4 G & 24 f2 CZ Lenses...

Realistic - yes. Though in my own thoughts I'd give them around 10% less, more like $8000 and $1500. But, then I won't buy either  Greetings from Australia and thank you for your reply bossel. My main reason fo asking this question is to gauge how the pricing on the new 500 will affect the...

Anticipated prices on new Sony 500 f4 G & 24 f2 CZ Lenses...

Anyone care to hazard a guess on the prices of the newly announced Sony lenses;

1) 500 f4 G :?:
2) 24 f2 CZ :?:

My guesses are $9,900US and $1,700US respectively......realistic?

Your thoughts please.....
