Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team

Brian, as a professional do you think you'd continue to use the Alpha system if Sony utilised the SLT route for the A900 replacement (if we get one?)

Re: PMA round up

I'm bemused as to why they have seemingly got rid of the ISO and WB buttons. For me at least I rarely if ever use the exp compensation button but the ISO and WB buttons are used almost continually.

Hopefully ISO will be shown in the viewfinder as well

Re: Macro Ring Flash Diffuser

Another alternative for this is http://www.foto-tip.pl/sklep/ring_flash_delta_drf_14_sony-p-1632.html - these are the same distributors for the Samyang lenses - 8mm, 14mm and 85mm etc. Have just got it, very cheap at 77 euros. Very lightweight and plasticky but still feels solid at the same time. Ni...

Re: Would anyone like to have some G lenses that are APS-C size

Yes the 70-300G is another Sonyfied 'G', not constant aperture and not particurlarly fast either, the one thing Sony didn't forget to do was adjust the price accordingly to suit the name, I think I must have subconsiously not considered these as proper G lenses in the traditional Minolta sense, the...

Re: Would anyone like to have some G lenses that are APS-C size

I can't see why the 50mm f/1.8 was aps-c only either? The only APS-C prime that would be semi-worthwhile would be an ultra wide angle prime (10mm f/2.8?) and even its worth would not be all that great. There is a need for high end APS-C glass though if the A700 does get replaced - regarding the 16-8...

Re: Would anyone like to have some G lenses that are APS-C size

I can only think of two possible 'G' lens that are desirable in aps-c are as mentioned a 'standard' fast zoom e.g. 17-55mm f/2.8 SSM and a uwa e.g 11-18mm f/2.8 G SSM Any other 'G' lenses should be full frame as there is little benefit not to, although a 50-150mm f/2.8 G would be interesting if sign...

Re: Sony 20mm lens discontinuing

Thanks for the welcome :) Been registered for while just not posted. Whilst I can't afford/justify a CZ prime (I'm happy enough with the 16-80mm) I think for those shooting full frame the availability of carl zeiss lenses are a big plus point for the alpha system, and the 21mm has a great reputation

Re: Sony 20mm lens discontinuing

it may have been that jessops were discontinuing the 20mm rather than Sony? I picked one up for £149 just because it was ridiculously cheap. Didn't find the FL useful on the A700 so promptly ebayed it to a buyer in Germany (it might have been mine you were looking at David!) If the 20mm is being dis...
