Not entirely blended scotch (although I know what you mean!) - the distillery is close to the town centre and the Oban 14yo is my favourite malt...

Re: Battery recommendation - NP-FM55H
Hmm... interesting. My NP-FM500H has all the Sony labels and packaging down to the hologram label on the packaging and the multi-lingual instruction sheet, however it was bought from an eBay store in Hong Kong so could be a copy - albeit a very good one!

Re: Hello From Leeds
Well here's an old scan (Agfa 50RS on a Scan Dual) of sunset over Oban bay. I set the aspect ratio for a dual-monitor setup at work, but it was done before I discovered Neat Image so it's still a bit grainy. Taken on an XD7, probably with my favourite Vivitar Series1 28mm f/1.9. sunset001 800x300.jp...

Re: Hello From Leeds
and a slightly delayed 'hello' (or should it be "ey up") to a fellow Leodensian. I don't think I've got many shots of the Scottish west coast in digital format, but many rolls of Velvia & Agfa 50RS shot between Oban and Fort William over the past 40+ years (I got my first camera at a v...

Strange indeed!
One of the guys in the office has an A100 - I'll get him to check his f/w version with a view to conducting an experiment...

Re: Battery recommendation - NP-FM55H
So I got a good deal on a NP-FM500H rather than another NP-FM55H as they're supposed to be compatible with the A100. Trouble is, no-one told my A100 which complains that the 500 is an incompatible battery :( I have f/w v1.04 - is this still current? (thought occurred that the A100 might need an upgr...

Re: Camera Companies no longer
Ah Halina... my 2nd camera was a Halina Simplette EE (126 cartridge film) bought for me from Dixons when I was 11 (my Grandad thought an Agfa 35mm rangefinder would be too complicated...). Lasted me 6 years until a friend got a Zenith E SLR after which I got the bug seriously and bought a Pentax SP5...

Re: A100/A700 flash shoe connection problem?
I recently had an intermittent connection problem with a 4000AF fitted to an FS1100 on my A100 (using the flash on low power to trigger a pair of flash heads). At the time I wasn't sure if it was the old 4000AF having problems or just dirty contacts. I don't remember any problems with my 2500D flash...

Re: Battery recommendation - NP-FM55H
I thought I'd got a genuine Sony (Japan) one from a UK eBay seller. It never lasted as long as the one that came with the camera and has just died (charger light flashing). I can find numerous 'un-named' equivalents for around £14, with a Hama branded at nearer £30 and this from a reliable supplier ...

Battery recommendation - NP-FM55H
In view of the extortionate price of an official NP-FM55H as a spare for my A100, I've been looking round at equivalents and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. I'd rather stick with a known brand (e.g. Energizer) but am open to suggestions.

Andy

I'll second the recommendation for Neat Image. I recently batch cleaned a set of stage shots of a musical revue my wife produced and the results were good. They now have a set of free profiles for othe A100. The shots themselves were boring - I had to use the A100 tripod mounted with preset manual f...

Selby probably is nearer York - and is actually in North Yorkshire despite being south of most of West Yorkshire... Back to the pub recollections, there are a couple of pubs in that general area - the New Roscoe and the Eagle. If it had decent Taylor's then it'd be the Eagle. Both either do or have ...

With my Electronic Engineer's hat on, the fault seems to relate to the own-brand cards - all 3 showed at least one of the three issues whereas the Sandisk has been fine. This would tend to eliminate the camera as a factor however having worn the hat for many years, I'll keep a watch for any odd beha...

Interestingly enough, speed wasn't a problem - although it might have been at Elvington in August for the airshow but by then I had the Sandisk. What I was getting was one of: - a grey or multicoloured band at the bottom of some images but only on the camera LCD and running to the bottom of the LCD ...
