Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
You want some spinach just like Popeye to cart that lot around Greg. It does soon ad up on the weight a couple of lenses and bodies, just think if you tried that with say a Canon 1Dmk4 a 600mm lens tripod, gimbal mount and all that goes with it, you would really want your spinach, on my trave...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
I would not like to predict anything at the moment, but if Nikon do bring out the rumoured Pro mirrorless body and it is a hit who knows what will happen then.

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
If those figures are correct, I don’t think it was just because of the vat back scheme all the manufactures were doing deals at that time.
I rather think it was the aggressive pricing of Sony products that helped, mind it was nice to get the cheque from Sony for the vat on my 580.

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
Time will tell Barry, but if I am right and there is a big market out there for the Sony type of camera then you can be sure the big two will jump on the band wagon or see their market share slip away. I do believe that much more development has got to be made on the mirrorless/translucent? Systems ...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
The biggest mistake that has been made by other manufacturers with the compact ranges of cameras are the new lens mounts, Samsung for one, if they had stuck with the Pentax “A” mount it may have been better for them but limited lens range and no third party mounts available means sudden death. Ps Gr...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
Hi Again all, I have to agree with many things said on here, yes I would like to see a super A-700 optical view finder and all. They must keep the full frame going at all cost, to lose that market would be a tragedy. But I can also see Sony’s logic if you can’t break in to the standard DSLR top end ...

Re: Sony to invest $1.2 billion in CMOS production
I quite agree sensor size is more than enough at 16 meg on a 1.5 crop.
And when I had an A-850 shooting RAW all it did was make my computer work hard.

Pentax have said they may do a mirrorless body.Dusty wrote:Gee, after they mess them up, it would mean only Canon and Pentax left producing usable DSLR systems!malcy wrote:......... I wonder what the odds would be of Sony buying Nikon???
Dusty
Looks like they will all jump on the “band wagon”.

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
Barry I did not say that I agree with all things that are new, what I did say was that the company, Sony feel that it is progress and neither you or me will influence their decision, the sales of their products will do that, and that is what they are in the market place for. I did say that Nikon are...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
Richard neither you nor I will be able to give any accurate indication of how many Sony users there are I simply convey my own findings on a very limited level out and about..and yourself likewise. The only thing I do bet on is that Canon and Nikon are by far the 2 biggest camera makers with the mo...

Another thing I nearly missed Barry, camera failers, yes cameras do have faults all makes do, here in the UK though, I can’t comment for other places, servicing is done “In house” and you can contact and speak to them the others I know of Olympus mainly done in Portugal Canon in many parts of the UK...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
Scooterman by far the most common Sony I have seen around DSLR wise is the A200 no doubt due to it's rock bottom low price at the time which I think was an all time low of just under £250 when it was on the market. I would imagine this probably was one of the best selling DSLR's from Sony at least ...

Re: Sony looks to change the world of DSLRs - Masashi 'Tiger
I met a guy while out yesterday, he was using Sony, a Sony A-580 with a large Sigma prime 300mm f2.8 and I asked him as you do how he found the combination, “superb” was his answer and after a short chat he told me that at his camera club Gloucester (UK) no one was using Sony kit 12months ago now 7 ...

"Nikon to launch a pro mirrorless system (with Sony sensors?"
The latest in rumours today, it has been mentioned before but if they do, it would not surprise me.
