My Tamron 70-200 2.8 "fringes" like crazy on A55, while it was great on A900.
70-300G is much better though, almost no fringing.

Re: A55 review now up
My reference points are Canon and Nikon movie files - or even the files off my Sanyo Xacti. I can browse these in Bridge and play them in the Preview window. On my Mac, I can even just view them in a column list view, select the file and 'play' the thumbnail! AVCHD is fine - I have the tools to use...

Re: A55 review now up
On my PC AVCHD files work like a charm - and I love how I can instantly burn BD disk using DVD medium. The whole process atkes 10 minutes for full 4.5 GB disK (an hour of 1920x1080) material. Amazing quality on my HD projector Also many software packages like Corel's $60 Video Studio Pro x3 do an a...

Re: A55 review now up
Hi David and others, you have mentioned the simplified AF system that may result in better focusing experience - BF or FF. I won't be able to get A55 until late January (Sony Canada has none in stock and everything planned for Xmas is sold out) so I cannot test my faithful Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro on i...

Re: A77 - Nearly here
Hi David, Thanks for your opinion: it is funny that I have access to Heliar (one for sale near me), but no to 16mm, back ordered at SonyStyle. Everything you say makes sense and I will probably go with Sony - hopefully I will be able to get it in time. Brad at DPR had cornerfix update their product ...

Re: A77 - Nearly here
I hope David you could advice me here - I need to make decision for my trip to Barcelona between getting either Voigtlander Heliar 15mm (new one) or Sony's 16mm. For my urban shooting, the wider is better and here Heliar fits better - not sure about overall image quality and sharpness - yes I need s...

Re: ACR 6.1 and process 2003 versus 2010
I agree with all above with one huge reservation - I don't like skin tones from LR3/ACR6.1, and this is specially obvious if you shoot RAW+JPEG. It is really hard to match Sony (or Minolta) skin tones with LR3. I now always shoot RAW+JPEG to get the best idea on how the file could look like. If you ...

Re: From Sony A900 to NEX+GXR
your post scares me - i might follow! I sold all my DSLR kit including my A900 and lenses to be replaced with Ricoh GXR kit and NEX5 with 16mm and wide-angle adapter.. A900 is wonderful, but its rather heavy and looks too professional for my candid travel and docu photos. I much prefer the point n s...

Re: Fisheye adapter and zoomin with prime during video
It does look good, specially in the middle. Thanks for catching this. Would love to get NEX5 + 16mm and FE adapter Some Fisheye samples here (thanks to Gigo, from Dyxum) -looks fine to me. I'll get the Fisheye anyway, I was about to buy one, Sigma or Minolta/Sony but I decided to wait and now the NE...

Re: Fisheye adapter and zoomin with prime during video
I don't worry about CA too much, as I shoot RAW and CA is easy to clean with lens profiles (I use DxO and LR3B2 for this). And, again, I am not affirming that the adapter is bad - i am simply asking a question if anyone knows how good it is, as it better be good to deliver decent quality. that's all...

Re: Fisheye adapter and zoomin with prime during video
Hi Paco, No, I don't know - I am just saying that, since the lens seems to be pretty good but not great (softer edges), the not-so great adapter will make things even worse. that is really just my question - is the fisheye adapter up the game? I really hope it is great and then this combo would not ...

Fisheye adapter and zoomin with prime during video
I am just wondering if anyone could comment on the quality of fisheye adapter (or better overall quality of 16mm + fisheye adapter combo). It seems that 16mm 2.8 is good but not great lens and perhaps putting the not-so-great adapter would make a mediocre fisheye lens. Any comparison with Minolta/So...
