Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Fast CDAF requires different lens motors. The E-series lenses have these motors. I can't explain how it work in detail, but you have to imagine a system which oscillates focus over a diminishing cycle to determine the correct point. Pentax do a massive cycle - it is like watching a firework display...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
This is incorrect. Light is only being diverted for the Phase Detect AF which can operate in considerable less brightness than in previous pellicle cameras where viewfinder relied on the the pellicle mirror. I always assumed that the angle chosen was to move the imaging on the AF unit forward and s...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Sony obviously made the mirror oversized to try to get more light in there and up to the AF system. But that means you can't flip it up out of the way. This is incorrect. Light is only being diverted for the Phase Detect AF which can operate in considerable less brightness than in previous pellicle...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
I'm not sure what "violation of tech aesthetics" means. Do you want a bigger prism box so it looks "old school" like the a900? I still think you understand me pretty well (despite your kindergarten tone). Losing half of the physical value, even before you get an opportunity to m...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Brian, I've got a real question for you. The Sony patent over the SLT design presumes the possibility to flap the mirror up while taking a still picture. How do you think, is it possible that Sony actually provides for such an option in that kind of 'a77' design they now show as a mockup? I ask als...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
AUD = USD 0.94 at present. Prices will reflect 5% import duty plus 10% GST. A33 B is $949, A33 L is $1099 and A33 Y is $1399. A55v B is $1249, A55v L is $1399 and A55v Y is $1699. Buying a A55v body only from the US including delivery will translate to about AUD 900. I would think many sales are be...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Some should also talk to the Lens department, it sucks that Sony G/Z lenses cost double in Australia when the Australian $$ has been around US$0.80+ for years. Absolutely. It would be nice if the worldwide ability to buy online led to consistent worldwide pricing. I've heard the same complaints abo...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
My experience with Sony has been very positive. I'm actually in the camp who'd like a ringflash - though one of the one's who prefer a true ringflash and one that supports the 77mm thread size so it can be used on all the Zeiss glass. But I also don't expect Sony to make it just because I want it. I...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
...Sony have little impact in the pro sector either most folks I talk to are Canon or Nikon and nothing else, the occasional Pentax one is around though fairly rare.. They are not consistent enough, nor do they portray the right "attitude" to establish themselves in this sector. Barry, I ...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Really? And Minolta dropped out of the camera business, why? You tell me Konica merger, financial issues who knows exactly why. If you're trying to tell me they made poor photographic products I simply won't believe you. I didn't say poor products but some may not have been profitable. There's a di...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Minolta was actually a real camera company with a long history of making cameras and related photographic equipment, they did actually know a thing or two about how too make cameras and accessories believe it or not. I'm aware of Minolta's history in the camera business. My first camera was a Minol...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
It's a lot more than being sentimental. Minolta had it nailed down in a lot of areas..Sony seem to be struggling to match them in some cases actually going backwards. Really? And Minolta dropped out of the camera business, why? You can't pick and choose in the DSLR business, you either have a compl...

Re: Q&A with the SLT Development Team
Thanks for the thought on the ringflash question there Barry, but even if Kevin does ask it, I'll bet all they say is 'we will check on this and get an answer for you' ...........and that's the last you'll ever hear of it. Like everything in business, the answer to whether Sony makes a ringflash co...
