A suggestion for your NEX-5: I acquired a Meineke underwater housing for it with the 16mm. It resides inside the housing most of the time. Considering the investment of $89, the pictures are great.

Samyang 8mm 2.8
What ever happened with this lens? It was supposed to be released in late March.

Re: Sigma 19mm EX DN samples
Anthony Thanks for the data & advice. As for my suggestion that the ECU improves IQ, I'm sure I'm over the top but let's for arguments' sake say it doesn't make it worse. Most of my use of the 16 has been on the 5. It's been stuck on a belt pouch for walking around and shooting middle distance t...

Re: Sigma 19mm EX DN samples
Has anyone evaluated the performance of this lens on the NEX 7 as compared to the 16mm with & without the ECU-1 which is known to improve the latter's performance? I recognize that there is a difference in field of coverage but they are both UWA lenses and short in length making them ideal to st...

Now that you brought up the subject of Vectis,is there any possibility of someone creating a NEX adapter for these lenses? I've still got a full collection and always thought the primes - in particular the mirror 400mm and the 17mm produced high IQ.

The same spirit level is available with a Sony mount. I got one one e-Bay last year but I haven't the link.

Re: NEX-7 announcement in three months time?
If this rumour is accurate, the NEX 7 will destroy the M9 sales. If you "must" have Leica lenses, just get an adapter & MF. In fact, Fuji X100 & micro 4/3 will have a hard time competing in that space. The only thing holding it back will be the lack of Sony lenses that are high qua...

Re: New Pentax Q System
Aside from the Japanese market, which I have no knowledge, this will not sell in sufficient numbers to cover the R&D. Unfortunately, Hoya has committed the Pentax brand to suicide. I say "unfortunate" because Sony needs them to use their sensors and consumers need photographer friendly...

David,
Thanks for an exciting use of the NEX. Can you show us the actual setup in the bag and of course mounted on your spectacular torso? BTW, could it have been strapped to the helmet?

Thanks for that explanation. I'll try it at f16 on the weekend and report back if there is an improvement.

Re: Sony Ultra wide conversion lens VCL-ECU1 - Any users?
I tried attaching an Olympus WCON-08B wide extension lens with a 49-62 adapter. Despite a huge front element this lens only gives 0.8 magnification but a lot of "light gathering". When I attach it to the 16mm there is minimal vignetting that could easily be corrected in PP, but (there's al...

Re: Kipon adaptor dilemma
This thread raises the question, "Why does an advanced amateur ( or better ) with other cameras want to buy this camera?". I, for one, would not want to put this camera on a tripod with T/S lens and fart around with the Schlumfug effect. I bought this camera to be my "carry anywhere&q...

Re: Using Olympus Pen F lenses
Yup, they're large JPEGs. Not much use in reducing them to show their IQ. Suffice, they are very good quality. At the moment, the limiting factor of this camera is the Sony lenses. I can't wait till the Zeiss lens with E-mount is available to really test the sensor. Please Sony, give us a prime in t...
