Re: NEX Firmware v3 released today

The new firmware is pretty good, now if only we could feedback to Sony to add another custom item to button b or c, to enable that button to be an AE-Lock. The current workaround of using 'flexible spot AF' with spot metering is a bit clunky in real-life use. That an allowing to set shutter speed in...

Re: NEX5 with Sony 35/1.8 SAM

Hi Pako, The NEX5 is my first Sony camera, I've been a Nikon shooter all this time but decided to go NEX as I find the NEX series to be really innovative so I can't comment on AF speeds on Alpha mount. However, I would think that the SAM lenses would focus as fast as the other lenses from Canon or N...

NEX5 with Sony 35/1.8 SAM

Here's my very quick review of the 35/1.8 SAM on NEX5: Pros: - Cost effective lens with A-mount adapter. Still cheaper than a M-mount 35/1.4 with M-mount to NEX adapter - AF possible, AF lock is accurate with no apprant focus errors (though I expect this with CDAF) - From a rough gauge of sample sho...

Re: Need some help with the Sony A-to NEX mount adapter

Ok I got a reply from Sony. They explained that the grease I saw on the flange mount is a small coat to prevent abrasion on the mount itself and that it's also present on their A-Mounts. I guess that sounds about right? it was only a small amount of white grease on the edges of the metal flanges whe...

Re: Need some help with the Sony A-to NEX mount adapter

I'm just surprised that that's any grease at all on the adapter flanges. The A-mount adapter is built really solidly (Made in Japan) and those metal flanges look to be stainless steel. Unless I guess they were concerned that the mount flanges might rust during storage. Anyways its frustrating starin...

Re: Does anyone have a pic of the NEX5 coupled with 50/1.8 S

Thanks for sharing the pics Frank, nice shots! I got the adapter and the 35/1.8 lens that was just released. Having some problem with a slight amount of lithium grease found on the new adapter at the moment (in my other post in this forum) but I can't wait to get the 35/1.8 on my NEX5! It would make...

Re: Need some help with the Sony A-to NEX mount adapter

Its a very thin layer of white lithium grease I suspect. Not exactly even, but found in v small amounts underneath the metal flanges of the adapter. I managed to wipe it all off with a soft tissue though. Strange however that it should be there. I'd like to post my thoughts about the 35/1.8 but its ...

Need some help with the Sony A-to NEX mount adapter

I got the adapter today, together with the new Sony SAM 35/1.8 Was all eager to rush back to test it out... When I opened the box for the A-to-E mount adapter, I noticed some very fine light white grease on the mounting flanges of the adapter. (looks like some very very light vaseline). Hesistant to...

Does anyone have a pic of the NEX5 coupled with 50/1.8 SAM?

Would just like to have a reference of the size compared to say the kit lens.

From my estimation it would only be around 1cm longer than the kit lens in unextended position?

Thanks! :)
