Steady shot - or not?

Tried some seabird-in-flight shots recently with my trusty A6000 + new Sony SEL70300G E 70-300mm. Variable results - more practice needed! Question: for panning/motion shots am I better with Camera steady-shot or lens optical steady-shot, or both, or neither? I had both switched on and cannot avoid ...

Re: Screen shade for NEX

I purchased one of these screens+hoods from the E-Bay supplier David identified. It arrived swiftly, and well packed. Here's some feedback. It comprises a Sony original clear plastic screen protector (or at least etched 'Sony' in one corner) and a black plastic spring-loaded hood - presumably of thi...

Re: Screen shade for NEX

David thankyou. Looking carefully I think these are in fact on Amazon - at more than double the price - but the specification there does not in any way make clear that the hood includes a screen protector. Vidgamer, can you supply a link? A search under 'JJC hood' simply brings up a 'mini-shade' as ...

Screen shade for NEX

A quick trawl on Amazon discovers various screen shades said to fit NEX, none of them much good by the look of it but - most important - none apparently capable of fitting over the Sony's own screen protector - which I wouldn't be without by any manner of means! And then there's this, discovered on ...

Sony OLED Electronic Viewfinder for NEX-5N Camera

Not yet available seemingly and at a stonking price when it is. What's the betting £ = $ :-(. And will it be retro-fittable to existing NEXs. If not, boo shame, because we were more or less promised it would be! The screen-only technique has proved easier than expected but this summer I have had rea...

Re: Mucky NEX-5 Sensor - AAAAARGH!

Well! I finally got the ruddy thing clean! This took 2+ hours on 2 separate occasions, over a boxful of Sensor Swabs @ £36 the box and many, many drops of that equally expensive super-pure meths. This in a 'new' camera that had never before had the lens off. Clean-room assembly line? I don't think s...

Mucky NEX-5 Sensor - AAAAARGH!

A few months after buying it I finally had the chance to use my NEX-5 in earnest last week - on holiday in Turkey. Reviewing the output I quickly became aware of a small fixed 'blot' in many pictures, more or less visible dependent on background and aperture setting - evidently sensor dust or somesu...

Photoshop Elephants - Deeply Awful?

It is, isn't it? Half-decent editor but too advanced for the simple amateur and not enough for the pro. Organiser doesn't, and the add-ons like slide-show abysmal! Any suggestions as to an alternative? Editor I can live with - just - but I really badly need to make decent slideshows & PSE doesn'...

Re: Adaptor vid-cast

It ain't perfect, but I work unscripted and up against the time limit of the Alpha 55 video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orqSoZ4MHxk David David, seemingly some glitch with the forum at present & I can only respond on 'quote'. Great video, very useful, but how do I set the NEX to work with '...

Re: Lenses for A33/55

Folks, Many thanks for all of that! It's close on 40 years since I bought my first 'serious' camera - a Minolta SLR. As I scan the catalogues - on-line now - with an acquisitive eye I have still to remind myself that I have surely missed - or messed up - far, far more shots through unskilled or unim...

Digital Cable Release

Downloading images from my compact - a N@k@n, Oh Dear! - connected to my XP PC via USB - Windows offered me the option to make an exposure. 'Heck!', I thought, 'Give it a go!' I clicked the icon or whatever and - by gum - the lens extended and - click - I had a blurry snap of my desktop! Makes me th...

:?

Kevin,

Gosh! Um! Wow! Er! Yes - or No!

Mrs. Eric will need some serious retail therapy before this becomes possible! However, thanks for the info. because it is indeed precisely what I am after.

David, thankyou too!

Lenses for A33/55

I'm returning - or about to return - to SLR photography after a lengthy break. For some years I've been using compacts while digital technology matured. Hence I'm a long way 'out of the loop'. The A33 looks super, just right. I'm not quite so sure about the 18-55mm kit lens. For everyday 'happy snap...
