Re: Chihuly Museum

Wow Sury, these look really impressive, but the web site is so much more. I have previously visited one artistic glass maker, but they made nothing so way out as Chihuly!

Nice to see that Photoclubalpha seems to be coming back to life. Happy 2023 to all of you folks.

Re: Flight from Moscow to Tokyo

In my experience Topaz Sharpen AI does a good job of reducing noise while it is sharpening. However, I had halo problems with version 3, and eventually reverted back to version 2.2. I tried version 4 when it came out, and that is great, so I bought the upgrade.

This just arrived in my in-tray. I haven't actually looked at it yet, but it may be of interest to you.

Re: Do you use Photoshop/Lightroom Smart Objects?

I'm pretty sure that smart objects improved in later versions of PS/LR. However, I do not know much about Adobe products since they stopped selling perpetual licenses.

Re: Do you use Photoshop/Lightroom Smart Objects?

I use CS6. A lot!. I rarely use smart objects because of the limitations. These days I retain most layers from start to finish of editing. (This usually means saving as a psb file because of the size.) If I need to change something that I did early on (happens often) I go back and redo the layers ag...

Re: Santiago, Chile

Nice shots Sury.

I particularly like the church roof. Some time back the late F11 Magazine had some work by a guy who specialised in making kaleidoscope images of similar ceilings. So I hope you don't mind, I did a quick job on this image.

Re: Photos from Brazil Trip

Interesting shots Sury. My immediate reaction was that the actual sunset surely must have been over your right shoulder somewhere? I must admit I didn't spot the "Kazakhstan" until it was pointed out. In fact I didn't notice the tiles too much - the centre of attraction certainly does work...

Thanks for the comment Hefay. (Since my last comment I decided that my old Epson 3880 was terminally ill. So I've bitten the bullet and bought a new Canon Pro-1000 printer. I decided to use the coloured version for the club. If only I had known. The visiting judge was a B&W nut, so I would have ...

Derelict Dwelling

One of our camera club members lives in a farm-like area with a horse stable. Yesterday some of us visited her place in the early morning. I didn't get much in the way of horse-pictures, but I did get a few images of a nearby derelict house. Here is the first one post-processed (just in time for our...

Thanks for the positive comments Yildiz.

Yesterday was a printing disaster. Lots of black head-strikes. Black ink all over the place. Wasted much paper and ink. The only good outcome was I've now got an A2 print of the coloured version.

Re: A Couple of Namibian Landscapes

Oh Dear! :? Your comment got me rethinking that colour image Sury. So I've just applied a mid-tone adjustment layer; and then masked out the effect on the sky and immediate foreground. Very subtle, but I now prefer this version. The only question now is "do I consider the improvement worth the ...
