Snow Monkeys at Jigokudani, Japan

In January 2020 during the last trip we went on before the coronavirus pandemic hit we spent 3 weeks traveling in Nagano-ken in Japan. One of the places we went was to Jigokudani to see the Snow Monkeys. It had been exactly 50 years since I had first seen them in Life magazine and I always wanted to...

Ordered an RX100

My Canon S95 that I bought on 2012/1/5 still looks and works like new. I keep it in a soft case when I carry it in my pocket so it looks just like it did when I got it. It isn't a camera I use all that much, but when I travel I always keep it in a pocket even though I am carrying and using my m4/3 g...

Minolta logo in Japan

I saw this yesterday outside a business center in Japan. I guess they use KM copy machines, etc. inside. Many may remember that before Konica Minolta used that logo it was the one Minolta used. I think Minolta started using it in 1981. Gave me a bit of a nostalgic feeling when I saw it. :) OLYC8187....

Is The Digital Tele-Converter Feature Worthwhile?

Recently I stumbled upon this write up from 2 years ago: http://www.thewanderinglensman.com/2015/03/is-digital-tele-converter-feature-in.html When I travel I always shoot raw, but in the last couple of years I have started to shoot jpeg quite a lot again when I am not traveling and just doing my dai...

How Much Exposure Error Can Be Made With The Fuji X-T2 And The Olympus E-M1 Mark II And Still Have A Usable Image?

This photographer uses the Fuji X-T2 and Olympus E-M1 II. I stumbled across his blog recently. From what I have read in some of his articles he prefers the user experience with separate, traditional mechanical control knobs of the Fuji, but uses the Olympus for situations where it's performance and ...

Error attaching photo to post

I am trying to make a post with a photo attachment. The jpeg photo is 800x707 pixels, 100kb, but I get an error when I try to attach it. There is a yellow exclamation mark and when I click on it I get the message: Error Could not upload attachment to ./files/762_c08439df4613e3cf9b2af71e5382ff8b. I m...

Adobe Bridge CC DAM is free to everyone

Previously the Adobe Bridge DAM (digital asset manager) was bundled with Photoshop, but today I learned on a forum that some time back Adobe unbundled it and also made it free for everyone. It also gets regular updates to recognize new raw files, bug fixes, etc. http://www.adobe.com/products/bridge....

Luminous Tree in California

A luminous tree in California in 2004. For the last few days I have been working on old California photos in Lightroom, from 1984 to 2010 (last time I was there), to make a new California gallery on my website. http://www.bakubo.com/Galleries%202/California/slides/CRW_3563.jpg Let's make this a Tree...

Bought a Dell U2415 monitor

I have been using various laptops for all my photo work since 2006. Even before 2006 I sometimes used laptops, but back then I would sometimes be in one place for quite awhile so at those times I used desktops. My last desktop was one I bought in 2005. I added a 19" IPS LCD monitor that was wel...

Future of A mount

Of course I have no special knowledge or insight into what Sony is thinking and I don't make predictions about these things since I most certainly don't know, but it seems to me that there is a good likelihood that Sony will keep the A mount alive for a long time. How many A mount lenses are out in ...

Sony/Panasonic in Japan

I have probably mentioned before about the way Sony and Panasonic sell their cameras here in Japan which makes them rather unattractive and rarely bought by most non-Japanese residents. They have a Japanese-only menu that cannot be changed. A few stores sell a subset of the models as "internati...

Mom's little family camera

Mom's little family camera. Good for the kiddos' birthdays, trips to Disneyland, and school graduations.
