Re: Future of A mount

Good rant Dusty, I still go out on field trips with my Minolta SLR loaded with reversal ( Fujichrome ), No zooms to talk of back in the day, and what was around was pretty average, just a bag full of primes, I still get a kick out of remembering how to use a manual 35-mm SLR, The whole industry is i...

Re: Future of A mount

I think Sony are trying to ween people off A mount but softly softly catchee Monkey, they will cease bringing out new A mount models, so if your a big Sony fan you may transfer over which is what they want, but not for me you can keep E mount. I'm still wondering why there are no more 3rd party m/4/...

Re: Future of A mount

If you look around for M/4/3 Cameras and lenses on the used market you could build a reasonably priced small kit, However, Micro 4/3/ lenses are under performers mainly Olympus at the budget end and grossly over priced at the high end, neither Olympus or Panasonic have managed to fill the middle gro...

Re: Future of A mount

I recently got a A-37 and kit lens, I will look around on the used sites for Minolta/Konica lenses including Sigma and Tamron, early days as money is tight presently. The A37 with only 16000 actuations was £109 including kit lens. You have to be careful with used pro end cameras as they could have h...

Re: Future of A mount

As I said its very tempting to build a small kit round Micro/4/3, as I already have a Olympus OMD EM-10, but prefer Panasonic but I'm still pondering whether to either go with M/4/3 or APS-C, both have good and bad points. I think my other half gave me the best advice keep the EM-10 and get a couple...

Re: Future of A mount

Well I'm the wrong side of 65 so smaller and lighter is now my aim. Yes indeed, Canon have always been hefty but solid as well, same with Nikon. as I said, I have the Olympus OMD-EM-10 and prefer the small Panasonic 12-32 F/3.5 as my basic kit lens, it out performs the Olympus kit in nearly every as...

Re: Future of A mount

I'm getting more and more impressed with Panasonic, I use a FZ330 bridge for a lot of my picture taking and its a joy to use, I can't fault the exposure or focusing and a fab EVF. Jpeg Colours remind me very much of the old Olympus E mount cameras such as my E-510 which use Panasonic sensors, I wond...

Re: Future of A mount

I much prefer IBIS such as Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Barry, question, what attracts you to Fuji, I had an X-10 and the picture quality was superb and it was stabilised. Bakubo makes a very valid point and I agree, there are too many gimmicks features and settings on these cameras for me any way, some m...

Re: Future of A mount

Trouble is with E mount, there is a mine field of good and not so good lenses lenses and all expensive regardless of how good or bad they are. With A mount you can build a system relatively cheaply if you include some of the Minolta/Konica lenses, even some budget Sony lenses perform quite well.

Re: Future of A mount

I have no interest in E mount, As Barry said, Sony have swamped the market with too many A7 bodies, I tried a A6000 for a while but the balance and handling were pretty awful when fitted with a big zoom or tele, As one cryptic comment was made on a a photographic site, Fit a big zoom or tele to the ...

Re: Future of A mount

Being a bit of a Jpeg freak, I have always had an interest in Fuji, some good prices on E Bay, but to my knowledge, no third party lenses or are there. The size of the XT-10 is bigger than the Olympus EM-10 and less fiddly to use up at the eye.

Re: Future of A mount

I have to agree about the phones, but being old school, it just not sit well with my idea of photography with a camera/lenses, I also think all those Sony E mount bodies is crazy, what are they playing at, its also tiresome to see cameras each year come out with Mk 2, Mk 3, Mk 4 etc. and people up g...
