Re: Landscape 2014

Thank you for your thoughts Toni. Just for you :) - here is another experiment. In this one the camera is still for part of the exposure, which provides the defined part of the image, and then moving for part, which gives the blur. This is the leaf litter on the floor of the wood. https://farm8.sta...

Re: Weather Today-In Your Vicinity 2014

It's a little unusual for us to have a nice long fall, but this year we did. However it's all over now. I just got home from work and it was -14f (-25.5c) outside. Nearly got frostbite snapping this shot. With the clear sky I'm sure the next few hours will show a continued drop in temps. It's hard ...

Re: Ghost Town

I love when people shoot stars (even if as only a part of the picture). Getting the darkness right in night time is difficult (if you have moon there, like it seems to me), but you've got it very nicely with the second one. It has a bit more drama which suits great for this type of picture. -- Toni ...

Re: Snapshots From Barrio San Antonio

For some reason my caught the second one. Although the Finland is very far from Colombia, the youth look all the same - meaning clothing and visual ethos. Kind of felt warm for those two, looking at this picture. :-) However, I like the last one best - single subject and interesting colors. -Toni --...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

Technically speaking - I think the dark outfit really does well in the image; in some respects being both part of the background and yet separate from it. The two vivid colors (boots and gloves) lead up to the bright face which is accented with a touch of color from the hood and the collar. Emotion...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

I am looking at the "reason" Toni. :) Nice lighting and colors. Thanks Sury! You know, it's interesting how you doesn't have to ask 'the meaning of life' anymore when you have children of your own. :-) -Toni -- Toni Ahvenainen (1976) Year of the Alpha - 52 Weeks of Sony Alpha Photography:...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

I love all the lines and angles in that shot. Thanks Hefay! Yeah, it's a bit complex picture and maybe even too busy as it is, but I like the way it contains a human figures 'hidden' in complexity. :-) -Toni -- Toni Ahvenainen (1976) Year of the Alpha - 52 Weeks of Sony Alpha Photography: http://ww...

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots

At the tiger park in Phuket, Thailand. There are three cardinal rules at the tiger park. Always stand behind the animal, never in front (attack mode), never make a sudden move (lest its instincts kick in) and never stray from the handlers. I was caught up in taking close up of a sleeping tiger, and...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

Those glass panes certainly skewed my perspective Toni. I was having hard time (in a good way) to sync the angular perspective of the entrance and straight down view of the walkers. Interesting you mentioning it. It was my first experience as well. But having edited it couple of times, I lost the o...

Re: Introducing Year of the Alpha – 365 Days of Sony Alpha

Sury that's' interesting. I had to look and look to see what arrow you were talking about and once I saw it, my eye kept going back to it. Hah!! Kind of distracts me too now! -Toni -- Toni Ahvenainen (1976) Year of the Alpha - 52 Weeks of Sony Alpha Photography: http://www.yearofthealpha.com ...
