Re: It's scary what €60 can now buy you...

Vuescan has its own drivers (which get installed with the software). You can download the free version and see if its supports your scanner (or look at the compatibility list)... This being said I highly recommend the pro version which remains reasonably priced. (Using Vuescan with a Dimage Elite F-...

Re: Seeking recommendations for a Point and Shoot super-zoom

The Fuji superzooms are also worth a look (X-S1, HS30EXR, HS50EXR). EXR sensors have some unique advantages (ability to trade off resolution for higher sensitivity or higher dynamic range, and RAW capture). I'd also caution about silly zoom ranges as without a tripod this is of limited partical inte...

That's a good image to test the 'Upright' feature added in Lightroom 5!

Re: Canon G15: Some thoughts on my new camera

I have a Powershot S100, as well as two Alphas DSLRs (700 and 900). Based on my understanding that S100 sensor is very similar to the G12's. The G12 should give pretty good results up to ISO 1600 in RAW mode and LR4 or equivalent, but won't quite match what an A700 can do. This being said, I'm very ...

Support for the A77 was added with LR3.5 so you should be good to go.

Re: Projection

I'm using a JVC D-ILA projector (HD750), which, once calibrated, gives very good results for photos and videos. I haven't used my Pradovit P2000 for years now, even though, when all stars are aligned (CF lens, KR slides, etc.), it is a lovely device. The JVC projectors are unique within the world of...

Re: Konica Minolta DSLR cameras

Your only 'mainstream' KM options are the 5D and 7D, two APS DSLRs.

This being said, you ought to look at the Sony DSLRs which are fully compatible and more up to date. Old KM or Minolta lenses from the film era work equally well on Sony DSLRs (including full frame versions).

Re: remote trigger for nex6

As an alternative, if you have a Harmony remote (and some can be purchased for little money), it is possible to add the standard Alpha remote to it: Device=VCR, Manufacturer=Sony, Model=A900 or A700 or NEX5 (among the possible combinations).

Re: ISO equivalent A900 versus D600

In fact I had an example to look at, I tried to send it to the buyer but PM would not allow it and I have not been able to change the admin settings for pms to allow jpegs to be attached. Here it is: And here is a 100% section - I also sold the quite lovely 28-135mm which produced this. I probably ...

Re: It took a long time ...

Without any mention of the in-body stabilisation or the fact that the built-in flash adds wireless TTL compared to the Nikon D5100 (this is neither mentioned as a pro for the Sony or as a con for the Nikon), I question dpreview's impartiality :-(

Re: USB-to-SCSI adapter for film scanner?

I also have a Minolta Scan Elite and am able to get it to work on my Windows 7 x64 desktop using the original adaptec card. This requires googleing for the Vista driver for this card (The file is called aic78xx_aic78u2_vista_x86_v605456.exe) and using Vuescan. Of course, this requires a desktop with...

Re: The A450 is there ... :-)

I'm not sure I see the rationale for the current lineup, but this may be an intermediate step towards a more logical one: - Low cost entry level cameras without screw drive motor (see SAM on all new lenses) - Higher resolutions from entry level up (14 MP?) The current approach may also serve to conf...

Re: Which 50mm 2.8 macro?

The original Minolta 50F2.8 did not have a focus limiter, which means that when the AF is hunting it can take a while for it to stop. This is not an issue for macro usage, as MF is the way to go, but it limits convenience for general photography.

I don't have a Sony FF camera yet, but what happens to the raw files when using a DT lens? Would this provide a workaround?
