Re: Advice...A700 or A350

 I think you misunderstood about the link, http://www.mhohner.de is not my personal site, but one of my favourites. It's one of those rare sites (along with this site and dyxum.com) where you could really find objective information. Some of my pictures can be reviewed at the link just beneath ...

Re: Advice...A700 or A350

Hi Dave,
I prefer A700 and I think it will suit you more, specially since you're a 7D user. Anyway look also in http://www.mhohner.de.

Re: I zoom and the viewfinder goes darker

I would love to blame it on sigma    , but if it doesn't repeat than better forget it.
Is it possible that the lens was not perfectly mounted (that is quite common with sigmas)?

Re: I zoom and the viewfinder goes darker

I presume that you are probably using a lens having focus lock/DOF knob on it, and quite probable that the adjustment of that knob is on DOF. While rotating the zoom ring, accidentally you might have pushed that knob which activated the diaphragm and hence the darkening of the viewfinder. Anyway, I ...

A700 with PE-300SGW

For all those who are interested, you may safely use a National PE-300SGW flash with the A700 through the sync cord (in Manual mode).
A700 user's guide mentions on p77 (bottom): "Use a flash with a flash sync voltage of 400V or less." The named flash has a sync voltage much less than 400V.

Re: Sigma 10-20 or Sony 11-18 or ... ?

Construction wise, I would definitely NOT recommend Sigma (didn't listen to photographer-friends and eventually had a bad experience). I would vote for Sony.

Re: Sony 16-105 kit lens

It's less than a week that I received my A700, and the first impressions are for a sturdy body. You might read about the A700 a lot, but consider the articles of David, here on this site and that of M. Hohner on http://www.mhohner.de As for the lens, let me put it this way: was in Beirut (Lebanon) f...

Re: Sony 16-105 kit lens

I just received my A700 with the mentioned lens as an upgrade to A100 with 18-70 kit lens. I did not try sufficiently the new lens, but it feels more robust, and I do like it's internal focus. From the few pictures I've taken, I can definitely say it's far better than the 18-70 kit lens. Can't say a...

Re: Hello!

Hi Anneke and welcome aboard. If money is an issue, then it would be either A100, A300 or A200. If you can find the first, go for it, it's a nice camera and should be cheaper than previously sold.
Take care
Harout
