Re: Do you always want a low distortion UWA?
My point is that I wonder if they consider this when designing a lens and intentionally allow it to distort? They have to - it is these distortions that keep straight lines straight when parallel with the sensor. The choice is to have curved lines (like a fish eye) or to 'correct' these by stretchi...

Re: Do you always want a low distortion UWA?
A rectilinear wide angle lens distorts the corners of an image. That is what it is designed to do - to make things that would converge as they move away from you stay parallel. What you are seeing is what stops it being a fish-eye type wide angle lens. PTLens does not correct these types of distorti...

Re: How to change cRAW timestamp?
Again, I don't think it can for Sony RAWs. The versions I have tried only wrote to XMP, but that may have changed.Winston wrote:Sorry about that.
Lightroom says it can but I have not tried it.

Re: How to change cRAW timestamp?
Exiftool cannot change Sony RAW files either, or at least couldn't last time I tried it. The only thing that I have found that will do it is Photome, but I do not know if that works with A900/A850 cRAW files.Winston wrote:I think your best bet is Phil Harvey's EXIF Tool

Re: Happy Birthday Harveyzone ! : )
Thanks all.
I had a very enjoyable day spent with the family, doing family things and, well, nothing in particular, and then a few beers in the evening.
A perfect day really.

Re: Saving as JPEG (.JPG) Unexpected difficulty.
This kind of thing is usually due to the file being opened as 16 bit, and needing to be converted to an 8 bit file first.Omega892 wrote:I was away from home and using Elements 3 on a laptop, the Elements JPEG Save as selection was limited to JPEG 2000 (.JPF,.JPX etc). Other TIFFs had no such restrictions.

Re: Minolta X700
I have an Alpha 200 and I have a chance to purchase a very cheap Minolta x700 with loads of lens'. I'm wondering if the lens will work with the Alpha? Not directly - no. They will need an adapter of some sort. Unless they are very good lenses, or very cheap it is probably not worth the effort. It i...

Re: 18-70 mm lens
I know some one who has a Konica Minolta 18-70mm lens with little use for sale for £30.00, my question is, is the Sony lens which I had basically re-badged or Konica Minolta? I was going to buy the lens anyway as it's cheap as chips, if I'm not happy with it it will be stop gap till I save my penni...

Re: Numbering of Image Files
I'm afraid I'm not following you. I often change writing media and never have I encountered such a phenomenon. Were the cards empty when swapping? My guess is that (using Johns example) it sees file number 120 on the card so goes back to 121 for the next image. If it was empty it would cont...

Re: Sony Flash Sync
I see that you say I may be able to get an adapter from Sony but I can't find one unless I'm looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place? I've been to the Sony site but just seems I go round in circles trying to find it! :? There are two Sony models - depending upon your needs you can use either...

Re: Photoworld Gallery
I am looking for a picture to complete a spread in Photoworld. The pictures already chosen each show an animal in its environment, and cover a range of scales from a fly, through a mouse, to a horse. The remaining space is square but a slightly more vertical shape could be used (not more than a 10 ...

Re: Sony Flash Sync
Hi Tom, I have Interfit Studio Flash that I used with my Minolta 700si but now I'm apparently unable to use it? :( You should be able to. What have you tried, and what was the problem? With an A100 you basically have 3 options... Wired with low trigger voltage flash - Us an FS1100 clone with a PC s...

Re: Sony Flash Sync
Hi - does anyone know if or when Sony might make a cam that will sync with Studio Flash and if they will upgrade older cameras to use it please :?: They all do with the addition of either an expensive Sony adapter, or an inexpensive 3rd party one. The A700 and A900 have PC socket built in which cou...
