Re: Any reason to update my equipment?
I was just looking through my last weekend shots at Watkins Glen of all the waterfalls with my ND filters I shot with the 580 and 24-70ZA. I Then just sat down and read the review David just released. I have to say it is very impressive. I then had a thought. For those who have ever tried the 580 I ...

Re: Alpha 100 versus Alpha 77
David I have a question / favor to ask. I can't remember if you got rid of your A700 so maybe you can't do this. I know this subject was to compare the A100 to A77 and how far they have come but since the A77 was to be the new and improved A700 can you take a simple outside shot comparing the A700 a...

Re: Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 DT SSM test
I tried a 17-50 HSM sigma last year when it came out and I compare it to the 28-75 HSM performance. Both were nice lenses but I I thought both were very soft. I agree speed and even build are way better but the picture quality was not. I never got as good results as with the tamron even when mounted...

Re: Sony 16-50mm f/2.8 DT SSM test
I myself was so so so looking forward to this lens and then I saw one tiny spec that made me cry! I really was hoping this lens would finish my final link and be 77mm dia like my 24-70,200G,400G and tokina 11-16. I do like the performance of the tamron 17-50 mm and agree Doc that the improved ...

A77 in the studio
How will the A77 work in the studio? Good or Bad? If using pocket wizards will there be a delay like the A55? I remember reading something somewhere that the Axx series didn't perform all the great in a studio setting compared to the Axxx series. I frequently use a set of Pocket wizards, umbrellas a...

Re: A77/A65 Samples
I agree Doc It think it might have been worth the wait. I have a 580 and 700 and really like using the Focus Check Live View 7x and 14x zoom function especially for long exposures like waterfalls and after dark shots on the 580. Is the DMF direct manual focusing function on the A77 the same as Check...

Re: NEX news from Messe Berlin (with pics)
I was just looking at some of the pictures with the LA-EA2 connected. Is it me or does it look like the motor mount or bottom I assume where the motor and chips are sticking out and will really be close to the zoom and or focus ring on bigger lenses. I know when I have the 24-70 ZA and the grip on t...

Re: NEX news from Messe Berlin (with pics)
I would've expect the 16-50mm to be pictured with the new A77. I may be wrong but it looks like the 16-80ZA is mounted.
Looks like a cool display though.............enjoy.

Re: tripod lubricant?
Thanks guys I did contact Induro and for $6 the sent me all new rings for 2 sets of legs (six in total). I wiped each leg down with a degreaser and then wiped them with WD-40 and let them air dry. They said WD-40 would remove any chemicals I put on for degreasing and then really wiped everything dow...

Re: LA-EA2
Forget it I just found it on our main site. I somehow missed it. It still sounds really cool. Will there be a ghosting issue on long exposures or night shots? I have really gotten used to using the MF function but on the fly I might use AF. I have really gotten some cool results with the 11-16 tokin...

LA-EA2
Hey guys am I correct in reading that sony just announced a new nex converter called the LA-ea2 that will allow "ALL" A mount lenses to autofocus. They put a shutter in it. I might be out of the loop but I didn't read about this anywhere

Re: Wide angle for A700
I have the Tamron 17-50mm on the A700 and love it. The only thing I don't like is I also have the 400G which is 77mm dia, the tokina 11-16mm which is also 77mm along with the CZ24-70 and the 200G all having 77mm. I shoot alot of landscapes and use both ND, VND or CP filters everywhere. I hate step u...

Re: Ultrawide choices
Here is my favorite example of the Tokina 11-16 on a tripod in the smokey Mts. Here is also a post about what I wrote last summer about the Tokina with the pros and cons on the ( Tokina 11-16 vs Tamron 11-18) Hello All, I am half way through my 6 week trip of the Eastern US coastal trip. I ended up ...

Re: Ultrawide choices
Dusty I can say I have tested and owned the Tamron 11-18, Minolta 11-18 and now own the Tokina 11-16. The Tokina is tack sharp when focused close up with a large spread behind @ F8 on a tripod. It is really nice @ 2.8 too! I would never part with it now. I love mine. I have done after dark shots lon...
