If that is the case then SSS will definitely not work, but as far as I know, the diagonal exceeds... Does anyone have any idea? ...

There are lots of reviews concerning the CZ DT 16-80/3.5-4.5
If money is not a big issue, then I would recommend it. Personally, I'm thinking of buying the A700 with that lens (although 16-105 is also tempting).
All CZ lenses are excellent image quality wise.
