Re: A7s pricing

A new angle on the A7s and Sony's general new strategy. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/the-sony-a7r-from-a-reportage-photographers-perspective-guest-post-by-guiskard/ Worth reading. Here os a Nikon user doing reportage photography who has ditched DSLRs and now fully committed to Sony, but using Zeis...

Re: Oly is still having problems

Agree, there are too many players in a market squeezed by smartphones from one end and adequate technology from the other. Some will disappear. Looking at my own recent decisions I did not think I needed the RX100II to replace my RX100, but the RX100III interests me as it can basically replace my NE...

Re: Oly is still having problems

There isn’t any compelling reason for them to keep buying cameras at the rate the camera companies hoped for now that most just use the one they already have handy all the time, which is convenient and adequate for casual usage. Agree with that Greg Beetham. Most recent cameras can indeed "pro...

Re: SR4 RX100MK3 with pop up wiewfinder & fast lens

Looking at the information released on SAR, DPReview etc. the RX100III looks like a camera I will want to purchase. I like the wider lens and the addition of the EVF in an envelope just slightly thicker than the RX100 I own to accommodate the lens. I am still waiting for the pricing to see how "...

Re: A77 II has landed!

And finding an A580 seems rare enough nowadays.
Note to Barry Fitzgerald on this. Owners (like me) don't want to sell this camera at present.

Re: SR4 RX100MK3 with pop up wiewfinder & fast lens

Moved from the NEX thread where I posted by mistake. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/ft4-rx100m3-announcement-next-thursday-may-15/ Perhaps the time has come for an update on this potential 15 May announcement of a significant change to the RX100 concept. As is known now, the main changes from the RX...

Re: RX100M3 announcement next Thursday (May 15) per SAR (SR4

This should really have been posted on "Digital non-DSLR". I had even started a thread over there. Don't know how to move it. Sorry about that lapse of concentration.

RX100M3 announcement next Thursday (May 15) per SAR (SR4)

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/ft4-rx100m3-announcement-next-thursday-may-15/ Perhaps the time has come to start a separate thread on this potential 15 May announcement of a significant change to the RX100 concept. As is known now, the main changes from the RX100II relates to a changed lens from 28-...

Re: A77 II has landed!

I won't say anything + or - about Canon as I have never even taken a single image with a Canon camera. I won't even consider buying a Canon however good the reviews are. I am an APS-C user and I simply dislike the 1.6 factor as I tend to go for wides. May be fine if you photograph distant birds. To ...

Re: A77 II has landed!

As predicted by some (don't remember names) I see a Sony release pattern evolving. Alpha 99 and now 77II. Retain A58 (for good or bad and for how long?). No A65 replacement. No other A mount cameras lower down the "food chain". New A6000 and 5000 series and now no less than three A7 versio...

Re: Don't Worry ? Be Happy ?

I actually have a wee laught to myself when I see these petit ladies from the far east walking around with their Canikon DSLRs with kit lenses. A bit like a camera with a lady. I, on the other hand, can do the same photography with my handy RX100. I don't even bother with my NEX-6/16-50 pancake as I...

Re: Don't Worry ? Be Happy ?

Even if you were fairly serious about wanting good image quality, an RX100 is far cheaper than an A6000. I suspect most would go for the cybershot. Based on comments above this quote, Barry Fitzgerald can cleary still handle a weighty bag. Not so with me any longer. I use my RX100 a lot, but someti...

Sure I will wait and see the price and some trusted reviews, but for the first time in a while my hand is moving towards the wallet if this is true, good and not too crazy a price: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-last-minute-rumor-corrections-announcement-on-may-1-at-10-am-london-time-rx100m3-has...
