Re: Challenge 10: Old MacDonald had a farm..ee..aa..oo!

For this challenge, we’re asked to challenge the famous Old Mac who has one cheerful, fruitful and animal-kingdom of a farm that inspired songs that each generation since had to sing along. Photos of farm grounds, animals, watchdogs on task, livelyhood, chickens, roosters, sheep, cattle, cowboys, c...

D'oh! I liked the idea of this one. I think you should re-instate it as a long term challenge.
Here is one I took as a 'test' shot, but liked and kept...

Nice sketches. Were they done 'live' or from photos?

Apropos of nothing really, here are some interesting photos of the space shuttle in space...

Re: Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 EX DG

I noticed this lens in a catalogue I received in the post today What are the economics of producing such a lens? You would need a strong support for the 15.7kg. I think it is essentially a showcase lens now. A ' look at what we can do ' type lens, rather than a practical option for anything other t...

Re: saw this duck attack a swan on sunday

Geese are VERY territorial and quite aggressive. Looks like the Canadian Goose and it will defend its territory quite fiercely. It considers the area around him to be home and will run out any strangers. Add to that mating season, and possible youngsters and they are even more so. Geese make...

Re: Any point in shooting JPG rather than RAW?

If you don't trust your monitor, download Calibrize. http://www.calibrize.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That should put you in the ball-park with color correction. I ran this on my home PC, and it came out almost exactly as I had it already set - a good sign. I was q...

Re: A380 330 230 details on Sony sites

To summarize, hvl-20 can be used as 3. Off shoe slave like all other flashes and can be triggered by pop-up flash of all Sony SLRs(except A900) 4. Off shoe slave and can be triggered by all other existing external flashes I don't think it has wireless capability. I think it has to be used on camera...

I have made some comparisons: http://www.photoclubalpha.com/2009/05/18/new-skins-versus-old-wine-a350-or-a380/ David Hi David, You have stated: Probably in order to help the 950mAh battery provide 500 shots under standard test conditions (230 images in Live View mode, A380), the GN of the built-in ...

Re: To crop or not to crop - that is the question

A few weeks ago I took a post-sunset photo while visiting the city in which I was born and raised. I think that I want to make a print for the wall of my study, and I think that it would work better if cropped as shown below. However, I have the nagging feeling that it might actually be better with...

Also DRO which only works on JPG, not RAW. OK, so you can get similar results from RAW, but it is more time consuming.

Re: Any news on new Alphas?

There isn't much precedence for vertical grips on that style of camera grip for the A mount. Here on the old Konica Minolta web page the accessories for the Maxxum line are shown. Only an AA battery pack was available for the Maxxum 3, 4, and 5 models, and that offered no reproduction of any contro...

Re: Any news on new Alphas?

We must just wait and see. They maybe could fit a dual CF/MS Pro slot in the base, maybe even keep the same battery - why not have two doors in the camera base? They would need to be able to move the slot into the grip when attached then, as a VG covering the card slot would be inconvenient at best...
