Re: DXO
Mac users be aware that DxO does not work properly in the latest version of Mac OS X (10.6 "Snow Leopard") You cannot navigate to any files within the DxO window, the only way to load a file is to drag it from the finder into the lower strip of the DxO window. Hopefully an update sometime ...

Re: Do I really need an a900?
I am short sighted and wear my distance glasses normally when using the A900. I do not have a problem seeing all of the VF and the display below. At one time I had a pair of glasses that had a short height to the frames and I did not find those very suitable for looking through the VF, my other pair...

Re: The 1.4X Kenko Teleconverter scam
I'm looking for a converter which works with HSM/SSM. The Sigma does not - it is due for replacement right now with a new model which does. Even the old Kenko works with SSM. Maybe the problem is that a chip to convert the lens data will also cause problems with SSM, but that seems unlikely as my K...

Re: Advice for Holiday lens
I have been looking at possibly getting a 1.4X TC for my Sony 70-400G SSM lens. Over on Dyxum there was quite a discussion about suitable and unsuitable TCs, however I am still very unclear about what may work. The 'dumb' converters that have no chip in them and basically pass all 8 electrical conne...

I found quite an interesting article about the different species of mice. It doesn't mention their love of car HT ignition leads! http://www.animalcorner.co.uk/britishwi ... .html#wood

Re: Photoclubalpha Mag 2009 Issue #3
Could be Field Mice David - I didn't realise they were different from Harvest Mice, I confess I didn't give them a close examination in the traps, and it seemed such a shame to kill them, so I have stopped. No doubt the cat helps in your case. Next door's cat, despite only having 3 legs is a hunter ...

Re: Who has pre-order a Sony's HVLF20AM Flash like me ?
I imagine if you have the 5400HS modified for 'new' wireless operation it would work with the 20AM because the 20AM can control the Sony & Minolta wireless flashes. It works fine with my 3600HS D flashes.

Re: Photoclubalpha Mag 2009 Issue #3
Like others I love that front cover photo, it makes me rather guilty thinking of all the harvest mice I trapped in previous years in my garage, because they were eating the rubber covered wiring and foam insulation in my car. You will be pleased to know I no longer try to trap them, it was pointles...

Re: Who has pre-order a Sony's HVLF20AM Flash like me ?
I have modified to 5400HS to support the new digital protocol, and I hope this will work with the 20AM. Frank Could you give more detail on what is involved? I'm not exactly clear what you want to do? - Control the 5400HS wirelessly with the 20AM on the A900? You can't use the 20AM off the camera b...

Re: Who has pre-order a Sony's HVLF20AM Flash like me ?
To be clear, you can trigger another flash wirelessly from the A900 (only) and that other flash can be in HSS. The 20AM cannot itself be used for HSS, (just like any Sony popup flash).Javelin wrote:ahh. when I saw the demo model they said it would provide HSS then I forgot to actually try it.

Re: Cir-Polarizing Filter
David, I had read about fitting polarising filters over studio lights so that reflections of the light can be more completely eliminated from objects such as paintings by using an on lens polarising filter, is that a technique that is much used?

Re: Do I really need an a900?
At first I thought I would miss the A700 and 16-80 ZA, as this was a perfect range for me on walk about. The 24-70 ZA seemed rather short at the long end at first, until I realised that with 24Mp I could still crop a lot and get a very useable shot on the A900 at 70mm. I have a 28-105mm for lightwei...
