Re: Vuescan?

I started using Vuescan over 15 years ago and have always felt that I was getting good value for my money. I confess that with the arrival of the digital camera era my usage dropped off, and it has now been several years since I have used it, but that has nothing to do with how well it has served me...

Re: Cuba

Valery, That was a nice album on Cuba. My comment was not about removing the rail but leveling it across the photo. The rail itself is not a distraction. Sury Hi Sury, Perhaps I misunderstand your comment, but it seems to me that because the image was not taken perpendicular to the line of the rail...

Old lens, familiar subject

Out to lunch one day this week at a small local cafe that specializes in BBQ, wine, and craft beers. I was carrying my Sony A6000 fitted with a Contax R/F mount Helios 103 lens, and something about this scene prompted me to frame it and press the shutter. - Tom - Helios103-6001571.jpg No flash, 1\60...

Re: Sony A77M2 - Help/Pointers requested

Out of curiosity, what was your source for the A77II at such an attractive price? Although I am primarily using my NEX-6 and A6000 these days, I just gave my A700 to my son-in-law as a replacement for his A700 after its mirror came off and the repair quote was a bit high. I have been tempted to repl...

Re: Challenge #60: "We're Going Autumnal !"- submissions end 13 Dec 2015

Here are some autumn images from the town in which I was born and grew up. Taken with my A700 and a Minolta Maxxum 28-75 F:2.8 lens. FWIW, in the second and third images the background goes away because of the presence of fog over the trees on the hillside, not due to any post-processing "artwo...

Re: Blurb B&W photo books

As a personal comment, having bought from Adoramapix I consider their product to be visibly superior to photo-books that I have seen from other sources. I have also been very satisfied with their other products - especially a framed 10"x30" print of a three-generation family photo that was...

Nice capture, and it seems very appropriate for it to be in B&W.

Re: Cruise Ships

Hello Yildiz, My objective with the third photo was completely different than with the first two images. With the first two photos I wanted to create images that would be pleasing to me. With the third photo I was trying to capture the "cattle car" (or "container ship") look of t...

As a change from the moving images, here are some stationary cruise ship images, taken last week in Vancouver, British Colombia, while the ship(s) were docked.

Re: Feeling happy

Thank you Dusty. I have always told my wife I have better taste than she does. "Look who married whom"? I do look older - yes. Wiser? Debatable. Ask my wife. If I were to sport the same beard today I would look 27 years older with nary a black follicle remaining. :D Congratulations ...

Re: Using DNG converter +LR on A77II raw files

I had no problems with A900 RAW files and LR3. Are A77II RAW files are larger and/or different? Lightroom 4 and Photoshop 5 were both released before the A77II, so they did not support files from that camera when initially released. If the A77II had been released before LR5 or PS6, they would have ...

Halloween "Trick or Treat" - Family Style

I know that Halloween (All Hallows Eve) is observed in many countries, in a variety of forms, and I think that "Trick or Treat" is also not unusual. However, for people living in countries where it does not take place, I'll mention that here it consists of children going door-to-door on t...

Capture One for Sony

It appears that Sony has negotiated a deal with Capture One to provide a free download of their software, and an upgrade from Capture One to Capture One Pro for $30 (or 30 euros if appropriate for your location). Since Capture One has a good reputation, and the Pro version normally goes for $300, t...
