Re: London?
I usually try to stay within walking distance of Charing Cross/Embankment and Leicester Sq as that gets you to a lot of tube lines quickly. But I'm usually there for a short time and will see a musical or two at the theatres nearby so that fixes the area I want to stay in. I'm sure you will get lots...

Re: What external microphone to buy for the A77
It would be useful to know the budget to get an idea of how much you want to spend if you are still undecided. I'm also thinking of getting an external mic for a video camera so am interested in the options - I already have a mic that I could add a new capsule to which would be a starting point. By ...

Re: First LCD monitor
I have been doing more research and another credible alternative is the HP LP2475w (perhaps the model David is thinking of). Some people complain of a pink cast on the Dell. I found a site with very detailed reviews, for example... HP LP2475 review My Spyder2 will work with an LCD but some people ar...

First LCD monitor
After nearly 11 years of trusty service I am going to retire my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510 CRT which is still working well. It looks like the 24" Dell Ultrasharp U2410 is a reasonable choice. Does anyone have experience of this model, are there others in this price range I should be consideri...

Re: Lightroom 3.2 RC supports NEX
I have studied Adobe's instructions and rationale, I am not entirely convinced; the data for the 16mm will have to be at too close a distance. Really I need an A0 printout. David Adobe are a bit optimistic including those B0 calibration charts. Even if you can choose one it will not be cheap to get...

I have been trying to work out how much effort this would be for me to profile my 17-35 f/2.8-4 (D).David Kilpatrick wrote:The sheer number of images you must take to profile a lens is enormous. ...

There are also multiple target sizes and grid resolutions to choose from.

I'm wondering if View Active Topics is working for these discussions

Alpha NEX system
Alpha spotting

but not the others.
Not sure if this gives any clues.

Re: Leaving stuff behind
Years ago I used Irfanview, but then decided I liked Faststone much better. Faststone show all the image files as thumbnails. Does Irfanview do that now? Yes, type t in irfanview or run the thumbnail viewer directly from start menu. On my 5 year old PC it is quite slow to show a directory of A900 i...

Re: Leaving stuff behind
I bought an 8.9" netbook a couple of years ago and used it in Egypt in December. Very handy since wifi was pretty common. I helped my sister buy a 10.1" netbook last month and she likes it a lot. I plan to get one too soon since the larger screen and especially the larger keyboard makes i...

Re: Hyperfocal distance
Ok, I'm starting to understand now... I think :) Most of my pictures are landscapes, and so far haven't noticed any problems with DOF (I use mostly f/8 @ 18 to 28mm). I recently read about the hyperfocal distance and that this is commonly used by landscape photographers, so I wanted to give it a tr...

Re: New Mozilla Has a Problem Uploading Attachiments/crashes
Any info or comments how to fix would be appreciated. Can you be explicit. What OS are you using? What version of Firefox do you have installed? The latter may seem a silly question but Firefox only nags you on minor updates. If this is a common problem then it will do doubt get fixed and in the me...
