Re: Future of A mount

What on earth are Pentax playing at, the sales of these lenses are going to be very small, Its a brand that is struggling any way, I do not see the logic in direction Pentax are taking.

Re: Future of A mount

My local, camera shop is selling the M5 and M50, one of their best sellers but apparently most buyers are already Canon users, some are adding to the collection and some are just down sizing. I think Sony could see that small is better as promoted by Olympus and Panasonic, and the E mount then becam...

Re: Future of A mount

I'm very pleased with my Canon M5 and supplied EFS adaptor, I have my Canon 15-85 hooked up at the moment and getting superb IQ. However its a massive lens both in size and weight, but worth the effort in the field. The 15-85 was bought second hand and in mint condition. Its time I gave the A58 a tr...

Re: Future of A mount

Yes, camera ergonomics and lay outs can vary quite a bit from one brand to another. Looking at menus and controls first but not too deeply Most DSLR'S are now in the same ball park re body styling. Even the small Canikons stay in the same ball park Menus were and are my big issue they can be either ...

Re: Future of A mount

Any body have experience/views on what DSLR's are easiest to use, starting with the menu navigation/set up then ergonomics in the hand and using. My nomination goes to Sony A mount. May be also the worst in people's experience.

Re: Future of A mount

It seems with each new or updated DSLR Pentax brings out they load more and more gimmicks and gadgets to an already over loaded menu, plus the cameras are getting heavier, good case in Point is the K7. Even my local Pentax dealer struggles to demo the menu Early Minolta ( Rokkor ) glass was superb, ...

Re: Future of A mount

Were Pentax awful under Hoya? probably and obviously now Ricoh, The brand remains an enigma. Such a shame after their hay day with 35mm and super Takumer lenses, Many pro's of the time could be seen with Pentax cameras. Even the Met Police used Pentax 6x6 for SOCCO ( CSI ) work. I agree, looking at ...

Re: Future of A mount

It would be great if some one bought A mount off Sony, and resurrected the Minolta name, with new models. In todays climate it would not happen. pipe dream I guess APS-C are still the cameras Canikon sell most of plus the enormous lens range inc. 3rd party and not to mention a very large used market...

Re: Future of A mount

Just a thought, but the ill fated A3000 E mount DSLR could have been developed as a ICL Compact, A shrunken DSLR body is what they are all doing now, namely Caniko. It was a golden opportunity for Sony, to carry this concept further, by giving the A3000 a major upgrade to at least an A57 standard. E...

Re: Future of A mount

I will hang on to my Sony A58 and both my Minolta lenses for posterity and in tribute to what Minolta gave the photographic world. My 2 Minolta SLR's are now going to get some 35mm through them. namely Fujichrome slide film just to bring back fond memories. Kodak's attempt at joining the Micro 4/3 c...

Re: Future of A mount

Sadly, Barry is right, I think A mount are entering the history books as an also ran, its a sad indictment of what Minolta gave the camera world only to be taken over by Sony who lacked vision and design expertise. E and FE mount will not pull Sony into a viable alternative if anything on cost alone...
