Re: Live View Would Have Delayed Alpha 900 Launch 6 Months...

Shutterless, high speed capture, EVF, high pixel count (suitable for reproduction uses in print), professional. Show off the best OVF ever in the A900 and then climb a further step into the solid state trend that eventually, unavoidably will turn OVFs with their moving mirrors+shutters obsolete. Fr...

Re: Ruffled feathers

(...) to be honest, not having to think about dPreview nonsense (which a lot of it is) has made for a rather more productive and relaxed week (...) Paul at Sony agrees. He thinks it detracts from my ability to produce good content for photoclubalpha, and I'm flattered that he should even care at al...

Well, the whole of David's messages wasn't deleted, not even the 'guilty' thread was erased, so perhaps it WAS a glitch?... Regardless, that 60+ messages thread in DPR's Sony SLR Talk forum tells — at least as I read it — a moving story. One that should make David proud. Yeah, man, they came when yo...

They sure could, but I doubt it. Feeling the PR temperature from their Japanese Alpha site ( http://www.sony.jp/products/di-world/alpha/ ), they used to promote workshops, courses and a steady flow of info, plus a nice monthly calendar. (No, I do not read Japanese, in fact my browser just show quest...

David's been quite busy I'm sure, what with the new launches and all... Anyways, although temptation could be mighty (early access to inside info, preproduction equipment availability for evaluation/previews/reviews, huge discount on production rig acquisition, etc.) I for one hope he refuses to be ...

David, you're apparently on...

The demand for David to be invited to Sony's launch was apparently successful... This is mr. Clancy's comment on his External News Sony Blog http://news.sel.sony.com/electronicsblog/?p=9 : Aug. 23, 2007 1:06pm | Posted by: Rick Clancy To the David Kilpatrick supporters, I have shared his name with o...

Well, I don't know HOW they will do it — heck!, I don't even know IF they will do it for that matter — but I find the need for precise MF/DMF mandatory in using f/1.4 lenses and the STF. Otherwise, given the very shallow DOF, even employing a viewfinder magnifier or a 2X angle finder you either must...

As time goes by...

To tell you the truth I don't know why none of the top DSLR makers has as yet launched a top model that — a la Hasselblad — has the capacity to change, not only lenses but viewfinders and, yes, its backs... I don't mean to say that is what I'm expecting from the new Sony(s) — although I wouldn't min...

You can do it. Manually...

Set the camera to M, the wheel to shutter or aperture control, turn the wheel by 3 clicks up or down after each shot and you'll get 1EV intervals.

Not very up to date, sure, but quite feasible. Very effective too for HDR takes, from a tripod.

In Armenia seeds of pomegranate look like http://harmar.photoblogs.am/index.php?showimage=396 this. Anyway I like your shots Paulobro. Thanks, Doc. Pomegranate seeds look just the same here, when you open the fruit. But then if by any reason you let them in the sunlight the color fades. As perhaps ...

The "i" version...

Admittedly I know next to nothing about flashes. But searching info after reading David's Photoclub Alpha review I noticed nowhere, not even on Metz's website itself there's a 54MZ-4 i available for Sony/Minolta mount. In fact, judging from Metz's site and a couple of USA vendors I've checked, all c...

The fruit... I understand pomegranates don't bear fruit in the UK due to cold weather, but I'd think you'd at least have seen one, David... :) Anyway, that's what it is: a spontaneously opened overripe pomegranate. Contrasty and bright scenes sure are hard on digital cameras, and lenses, so they're ...

The MP War still rages

Considering all problems, specially noise, related to 10MP APS-C sensors I was thinking the MP War would progress more slowly in the future, settle down a bit and stabilize around, say, 15MP, perhaps 20MP?... Guess I was quite wrong: news from the Dark Side state a 50MP prototype CMOS sensor sized 1...
