Re: Sigma 8-16mm -- some images and comment

Before the decision to buy either the 8-16 or 11-16, I gave my old 11-18 another workout: http://markus-spring.info/wp/2010/07/pit/ 1:1 crop: http://markus-spring.info/varia/dsc39826_v2.jpg http://markus-spring.info/wp/2010/07/r-for-reservation/ it doesn't look as unsharp as I had expected from the ...

Re: Sigma 8-16mm -- some images and comment

David, thanks. Of course your last reply to Pako's question again opened up that Pandora's box of "should I switch to Full Frame?" As I already have the Minolta 17-35 plus a Minolta 2.8/28-75 it is a valid question and not to be answered easily. Every investment in a non-FF lens of course ...

Re: Sigma 8-16mm -- some images and comment

Chris, David, when considering to buy a replacement for my not-so-stellar Tamron 11-18 - probably misaligned, but I discovered that too late - would you see the 8-16 in the same league as the Tokina 11-16? Using the latter wide open on the A700 seems somewhat pointless to me anyway, as the AF is mor...

Re: sofobomo 09: finished my book

Thanks for the positive feedback. Meanwhile I have made it available on issuu, too. This version requires flash and a fast internet connection, but it's easier to read and more book-like here: http://issuu.com/markus_spring/docs/bat ... sofobomo09

Re: A new panorama

my goodness, I already thought you crashed my firefox -- 100MPix is really substantial. Compositionwise I like it very much with the fence leading into the image. Probably a tad more saturation and local contrast enhancement in the sky could further improve it. But as you said - definitely worth loo...

Re: MIF

That combination of absolutely sharp body plus motion blur on the wings definitely works. Excellent craftsmanship + good eye = keeper!
Astonishing for me is the richness of visible detail even without any additional sharpening.

Really impressive. Great details in a wonderful soft light, and you really transport the feeling standing high up and beeing able to turn the head without limits.

Don, could you please tell us about the postprocessing? I tried hard but never got that "popping out" sharpness with my beercan/a700

sofobomo 09: finished my book

It seems that nobody else of photoclub alpha was or is participating in sofobomo 2009 . For those that do not know it: Sofobomo stands for Solo Foto Book Month. It is a self assignment to photograph and compile a pdf photobook containing minimum 35 pictures in a 30 day period. For details just see t...

#2 is it for me. That colourful throat pouch in combination with the monochrome body of the animal is great.
