Re: Let's post some panoramas
Thanks Sury... It isn't your monitor. It was a hazy/rainy day in the mountains that day..

Re: Birds 2014
Those are some great bird shots Mark and ValeryD! I usually only shoot birds as targets of opportunity, but I got lucky at Big Bend. It was also quite helpful that the kids were on the lookout for photo opportunities for me, while I was cooking etc. A Striped Back Woodpecker. https://farm6.staticfli...

Here is a somewhat greener shot from our last day in Big Bend, as we hiked to the 'Window' in the Chisos range..

Re: Let's post some panoramas
Thanks Mark, Andy and Sury. Mark- Thanks on the IR Pano kudos. It is one of my favorites from the trip. I know the feeling about living in a flat, densely populated area. Here in the 'burbs of America, I could maybe get a Pano of the identically pitched roofs in the area, but, that wouldn't be too n...

Re: Let's post some panoramas
I couldn't resist trying a Sweep Panorama with my IR converted NEX-5N. I love having a IR converted camera, but the lack of a viewfinder is a real pain in the harsh Texas sun.... :( https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2906/14435303900_139739b75e_b.jpg Big Bend Pano No 1 by JohnLeBlancII , on Flickr

Re: Let's post some panoramas
Here is one of the tiny little town of Boquillias, Mexico, just on the other side of the Rio Grande River. I took it with the a77 and 70-200 G SSm, but if you look at it full sized, you can see that I was sweeping just a tad too fast. Other than that, the camera did a nice job of stitching the shots...

Re: Let's post some panoramas
Mark- you do travel to some panorama ready places, all are well composed. I haven't done a manual or even semi-manual stitch in a while. I shot several panoramas at Big Bend National Park, but I used the in-camera sweep function every time. On closer inspection when we got home, I wish that I had ta...

Re: Let's post some panoramas
Great Panos Mark. Here is one from our recent trip to Big Bend National Park. This is a sweep panorama from the a77 of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend. Thanks for looking.. Cheers to all! Re: Anything that floats or it did once
Great boat shots guys.. As a landlubber myself, I don't get too many chances to shoot boats. Here is one from our last trip to New Orleans. Taken on from the rooftop bar of our hotel, as we sipped some adult beverages...

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Thanks Sury- It does resemble a Fedora from some angles, maybe even a Sombrero. Some of that coolness you mention is related to IR itself, and the fact that most of the visible side is shaded from the sun.. I was hoping for some clouds, but alas, it has been a perfectly clear day here in McKinney..

Re: Exhibit your B&W shots
Thanks Sury and Yildiz! I can't wait until Dannelle and I go there again! Here are three from a local park that opened recently. I found the a77 difficult to use for long-exposure IR work, but I wanted to give it a shot. Hopefully my NEX C3 that I just shipped off to be converted to IR gets back soo...

Re: New Sigma 18-35mm f1.8
I've read those reports too, and they are giving me pause.. The AF system on the a77 will only let you set one change, where the Sigma dock would let you adjust more focal lengths.. I am in the market for a fast zoom, but I may go with the Sony 16-50 f2.8, as it is an established lens. Also, I bet I...
