Well, using the special exchange rate for photographic kit that price ought to translate to £1,399 plus VATbraeside wrote:In the USA you can pre-order from Sony at $1399 for the body only with delivery expected end of September.
Wonder what the UK price will end up at and when we will get it.

Excellent shot which I think would be improved by a touch of brightening all over - I have not checked, but I bet the histogram stops short of the Alamy recommendation of 243 at the top end, and the dark tail could do with a hint more separation from the background. Just a minor PP adjustment. Davi...

My trusty 200 2.8 HS!
Choppy sea, rapidly changing light, 2x T/C requiring manual focus and fairly slow shutter - I'm rather pleased with this!

Is it still available? If so then: I do! -- Olaf Sorry, Olaf - it's already been snapped up by someone on another forum (for a free offer, I reckoned a week was long enough before offering it elsewhere) I'm not sure if they're still doing them, but if you were considering purchase of a new card, my...

I have a free licence key for the above (it came with my latest SanDisk card and I don't need it). If anyone wants it, the first to shout "I do" on this thread can have it - I'll PM the key to the 'winner'.

Sony 70-200 SSM
Having read reports of slow focus with this lens, I thought I'd give it a test run at the East Fortune Airshow. Hard enough to get a good shot at the best of times, I was pleased with both this result and the overall performance of the lens. http://lh4.google.com/Beakydave/Rq47EWboOUI/AAAAAAAAACU/RJ...

I have just taken the plunge and ordered a new Sony 70-200 2.8. Question - will my Minolta 2x (Mark I) T/C work with this lens? If not, what do I lose - autofocus? automatic exposure compensation? If I have to plump for a new Sony T/C, will it work with my Minolta 200 2.8 HS? (Assuming, of course, t...

Thanks again, Olaf It is all starting to make sense now. While I like to think I know how to take a good photograph, you will gather from my posts that the science is still a little beyond me. When I said that I knew taking multiple 'exposures' from a single RAW is not the same as real multiple expo...

Re: HDR versus DRI---wide range versus compressed range
... you seem to say that it is not possible to produce an HDR image from any DSLR output, regardless of software, even if multiple exposures are taken? No, that's not what I am saying. But you say no, or virtually no, digital camera is capable of 32-bit imaging. How then can one produce what you ca...

... it was a rather hasty effort, using only three 'exposures', just to prove that CS2 can do HDR from a single raw. Actually, it cannot. All you have proven is that Photoshop CS2's HDR feature can be misused to create DRI images when tinkering with the EXIF data. You mustn't confuse HDR and DRI. H...

Updated
I've added another 2 exposures to my HDR experiment - my post above shows the original and the revised HDR. Although a combination of the JPEG compression and I guess the algorithms used on picasa mean that both images continue to appear darker on the web than they really are, the difference is more...

Thanks, David As I said it was a rather hasty effort, using only 3 'exposures', just to prove that CS2 can do HDR from a single RAW. That said, I'm actually quite pleased with the results. That is not my best photo but, while the main body of the picture is virtually the same, I much prefer the tone...
