Hard to tell. Some DPR shots show it some don't but you really have to look close to see it so I suppose it's not an issue. I wonder if on some lens it might be reflection on the rear element too. None of the review sites have mentioned it either which is surprising if the issue is real
at anyrate what do you suppose the chances are the camer could correct this automatically? for example couldn;t software shift the bright parts of a pic by the right number of pixels and just eliminate anything that matches?
It can be done automatically only if the highlights are not blown in raw. For if they are, the compensation cannot be exact. The problem is that the problem manifests itself only with the blown speculars, while with the in-range highlights the ghosts are virtually unnoticeable.
But I start to think that those A33 ghost-free samples may tell a different story. I'd wait and see for now...
There are simply too many variables - those A33 samples may have had the speculars much weaker than those in the DPR samples, and that alone could prevent ghosts from appearing. The DRP samples have the images of the lamps larger in size as they are closer, so the ghost may result from the reflected image of the super-bright light-emitting elements inside the lamps; while the Taiwanese samples register those bright spots from a very long distance, and the light-emitting point-sources have their respective images naturally dispersed so the super-bright spots are not present there any more.
If you have a look at that night cityscape image at dpr and have a good look at the light reflections it looks like three reflections, two close together and another further away, thing is the angle of the furtherest one changes, there is at least one from memory over on the right that is at a different angle from the ones in the middle.
