Decent hard drive size too. Looks like a winner and really ought to give Apples Macbook Air a good seeing to. It's one possible achilles heel is the Windows O/S, which may be sluggish on the Atom processor but we'll have to wait and see to find out.bfitzgerald wrote: Price around £299 so I am told. The Atom CPU is ok, not really designed for power users, but enough for this type of machine.
Windows XP is ok, 1Gb will run it fairly decently..no specs on max memory size, but I would imagine you can pump up the ram to at least 2Gb..and Xp will work very well on that. Onboard graphics, but expected for this type of small machine
You could of course put linux on there if you wanted to.
The main appeal is I find samsung memory, and HDD's very reliable, add the better keyboard, and the £299 price. I would hope the LCD is a notch above the others.
Be happy they didn't try to slap Vista on there, it really does not run well on 1Gb. I have managed to chop it down on a few machines, and decreased the GPU ram stealing the main ram. Even so..at best it's not a patch on Xp with 1Gb of ram. Even then, XP can be trimmed down to free up memory.
It might even run lightroom ok for you, though 2Gb would help a lot. I wouldn't want to be doing A900 raw files on it though. But for a small, neat..mini laptop with a decent bit of storage space, it def looks like one of the stronger contenders out there. Size is the key, much nicer to carry something like this about, than a normal laptop

Mine is a PowerDrive PDx70. Was very costly when I bought one and fast and reliable
