VG-C70AM Market Differences

Unread post by KevinBarrett »

I am about to purchase one of these vertical grips and find wildly differing prices (which is really odd for a Sony Alpha branded product). At http://www.sonystyle.com the grip is $349.99, at http://www.bhphoto.com the grip is $299.95, and at http://www.calumetphoto.com the grip is $269.99. Specifically, I am concerned that the price difference is due to the grip sensor. Does Sony make two versions, with and without the grip sensor, as they do with the a700 in Europe?

Also, does anybody know why these prices are coming down so suddenly or whether they will continue?

They may be cutting grip prices because they have a surplus of grips. As far as I know, the European version lacks the grip sensor, but all the vendors you quote will be selling one with a grip sensor.

Uncommon that Calumet have a better price than B&H.
Are you buying it straight from Amazon? or Adorama trough them? $199 is the price at Adorama now after a $100 dollars instant rebate -but it shows back ordered.

I ordered mine from Ace Photo Digital through Amazon. [link] They were the first to show up with that price and I just didn't hesitate. I got free shipping, too!
