The thoughts of buying a camera only for it to die on you, are not too nice. I am sure some out there are just fine. With the 5d, it was different..I have had good use out of it, saying that..if it did die. I might be tempted to get it fixed, if it were not too silly price wise.
In the short time I owned mine it was fine and it wasn't until I viewed posts in Dyxum (am I allowed to say that here

) that I became aware of the dreaded fault everyone refers to.
I used to have a 1.8 petrol LandRover Freelander and everyone (including my local LR dealer) said that it wasn't a question of "if" the head gasket problem struck, it was simply a question of "when". And sure enough it did, blew the engine which cost me £2K to have repaired (out of warranty naturally) so I have become wary of the built in fault syndrome (not that I had much luck using a Freelander for photography

).
I'd still like to re-aquire one though. (7D not the LR)
